I never saw it until recently. It's pretty good. And the chick playing his girlfriend/wife is hot.

Donna Reed. Major babe.

I just recently discovered that the film's narrator is the author of the book that inspired the movie. Apparently there is a podcast of Jean Shepherd reading his book "In God We Trust (all others pay cash)" while he was a Cincinnati radio personality.

If you love the movie you'll love his storytelling.

Jean Shepherd was a radio legend. His style is imitated by Garrison Keillor somewhat as well.

Jean Shepherd wrote quite a few books, which are a delightful read.

The book this movie was largely based on is called In God We Trust, all Others Must Pay Cash. Also there is a little known sequel called either It Runs In the Family or My Summer Story. Though about the only actor from A Christmas Story is the teacher. Its still narrated by Jean Shepherd.

A Summer Story was possibly the worst sequel in the history of movies, and that's saying something. Charles Grodin as the Old Man and Macaulay Culkin's less-charming kid brother as Ralphie is irredeemable.

One scene that always makes me laugh is when the guy brings in the crate with the lamp. The lamp crate has a huge arrow that points up and a huge "This side up" printed on the side.

He sets it up right and pauses then lays it down on its side. It's subtle but very funny how they set it up the scene.

I'm going to surprise people. Never seen it. I've seen parts of it and just never felt interested enough to watch it all.

Absolutely love this film. I force my family to endure it for hours EVERY Christmas.

There are about 10 movies that I have seen at least 50 times, this is one of them.

I still laugh hard and two funny scenes for me are when the lug nuts go flying in slow motion and Ralphie screams "Oh fudge" as well as when Ralphie tells his Mom he heard that bad word from "Schwartz" and the kid gets a beating on the other end of the phone from his Mom.
