Uh, feel free to be content with bringing guys in for "visits."

As pointed out earlier, all that does is leaves the window open for another team to make them an offer they can't refuse - and never get on a plane to KC.

The Dolphins obviously had Smiley targeted and got him - without bringing him in for a "visit."

There has been exactly ONE free agent signing reported in the entire NFL so far. Must be 31 other teams "asleep at the wheel."

No people just get mad because it's kind of typical for the Chiefs, something like Carl being on vacation when FA starts.

That's exactly it, and it was expected.

You can tell Parcells has taken over in Miami.

They targeted Smiley, offered him a pretty fair deal, before he could deal with anyone else.

Drew Rosenhaus talking now on NFL Network about how good franchises are targeting and signing guys quickly.......

You expected Smiley to get signed by the Dolphins? Weird. In your first post, you said the Chiefs were going to sign him.

He's saying the Dolphins are being proactive in getting players while the Chiefs are sitting on the pot twiddling their thumbs...

No, I was responding to this quote from Mecca.

It's to be expected around here that Carl seems to lag behind when it comes to FA.

I just find it hilarious that you two are overreacting because one free agent has been signed. ONE. In the entire NFL. We are barely an hour into free agency. Oh well, it's to be expected.

Hey that's when all the top guys go in the first couple of days...

If you wanna go completely through the draft that's fine, just realize it takes 5 years of great drafts to do that.

Who said that??? I want us to be active in FA getting good young players. I am just not overreacting because one guard was already signed.

Oh well, I am going to bed, like CP I guess.

The Huddle Report has a page where they estimate what kind of contract each FA based on past performance and past signings at the position.

They almost nailed Smiley - they predicted $7M guaranteed and $5M per.

If there would be any reason other than money to come to KC it would be that he's closer to his family in Oklahoma.

Either a player of no impact or an older player to try and bring us back to .500.

kregger 02-29-2008 01:52 AM

I sure hope it's DJ Hackett. Hopefully Carl is on vacation and Herm/Clark have the balls to get a quality WR along side Bowe and TG.

But if he hates his parents, he'd want to sign as far away as possible.

Like Seattle or Buffalo.
