If it wasn't for Jordan, he would be an good perennial All-Star who misses the hall of fame. Something along the lines of a Rip Hamilton. Shaq created his own legacy, and he won without Kobe. Look at the couple years he didn't have Jordan, was he good? Yes. Was he dominating? No. Thats not the kind of player he was. Paul Pierce is better than Scottie Pippen.

Pippen was about a 20-25 ppg scorer, but he was GREAT on defense. Just awesome. He didnt have that killer instinct on offense that other players have, but he had it all. He wasjust a great all around player. It sucks his knees went bad on him late in his career.

More like a 17-22 PPG scorer. He never ever scored more than 22.0 PPG in a given year. As I said, good player, but I think there are a few other guys that played around that period that you could still plug into that Bull's lineup and they still win those championships.

ooh, i am sure there is, they had a good team. Him and Jordan on D, can lock up any other teams power players. Then you had that monster on the boards in Rodman. He may be a freak, but that guy can grab rebounds. I think he averaged close to what 18 a game one year? They just had the PErfect players for that system.

Hootie 05-30-2008 03:01 AM

did he just compare Scottie Pippen to Rip Hamilton? Hahahaha.

We'll never know how truly great Scottie was because of Michael, sure...but a dude that plays that good on defense and during his prime put up 20/8/6 plus 3 SPG should never be compared to Rip friggin' Hamilton.

kcxiv 05-30-2008 03:08 AM

I dont see anyone putting Rip in their post. Unless i missed it. Then again, its 2am

Hootie 05-30-2008 03:13 AM

how is Paul Pierce better than Scottie Pippen? Your whole premise in the argument is Scottie never won anything on his own etc. etc. etc.

What has Paul Pierce won?

Pierce is a much better scorer, yes...it's no question. But what else can Pierce do better than Pippen? Nothing...he's not the passer, he's not even near the defender, he isn't the rebounder...

Pippen redefined his position...he was the primary ball handler for the Bulls...

Pippen was an all around great player...he was on the 50 greatest players of all time list...Paul Pierce wouldn't even sniff that list.

Pierce, great offensive player...but he isn't hall of fame bound or anything...

kcxiv 05-30-2008 03:18 AM

Peirce is a good defender. I will give him that. He's got game, but not as good as Pip.

So, is it safe to say that if Jordan didnt have Pippen he wouldnt have won any titles? We cannot say that if Kobe didnt have Shaq he wouldnt have won any titles. THey would have built that team differently. So we cannot call it one way or another. You take Shaq out and its TOTALy Difrerent. The way they drafted would have been alot differently. Mr. Logo who you have in your avatar wouldnt have left Kobe out there with nothing to help him develop.

Are you likening Scottie Pippen complementing MJ to Shaq complementing Kobe? ROFL If anything, Kobe was the one complementing Shaq. Those were his teams.

I thought it was hilarious. I love it when people do things like that. Here is my favorite.

Paul Pierce is a better scorer than Scottie, but NOT overall. Hell, Scottie is one of the BEST 50 players of all time!

Shaq's other championship also came with D-Wade (without whom, along with others, he would not have won another championship).

DJ's left nut 05-30-2008 12:56 PM

And his other finals appearance came with a healthy Penny Hardaway.

Shaq's a HOFer, one of the 5-8 best Centers of all time, but his inability to hit free throws and his late game yips would have prevented him from ever winning a championship without an elite swingman.

Shaq needed Kobe as much as Kobe needed Shaq.

Kobe was complimenting Shaq. I wont ever deny that. Kobe was all of what 21? He was still a skinny ass player with tons of potential. He at times took games over no doubt, but Shaq was the key to that team. I wont ever deny that.
