Its inspired by Master of Puppets. Nowhere near the shit that St Anger was.

I can pop in Master/Battery, and enjoy it the same as the first time I ever heard it. Not a lot of music can say that.

Thank you for peeing on Lars' Wheaties. What a self-righteous ass he is.

Agreed. being in rock radio for eons, i have heard the metallica sucks debate since Ride the ****ing Lightning. It is old, but as you say it speaks volumes about how big they are. In fact, in radio, they are their own musical category. They are the only band in rock that you could play every hour and no one would complain. its amazing. I'm a rock radio programmer, not just a Dj. Its true.

BTW, this without a doubt sounds like the old stuff.

In fairness, they've sucked since And Justice for ****ing All.

They haven't made any music worth a crap since at least the late 80's. I think Carlota is actually doing her listeners a favor by not playing their album.

Carlota69 09-03-2008 02:41 PM

Is there another band that has this much debate centered around them? Its not like we hear about how the Stones sucked since Goat heads Soup or U2 since josua tree or Ozzy since Diary of a MAdman.

its just continues to prove the point:they are the biggest rock band still producing new music.

kcxiv 09-03-2008 02:42 PM

Its really stupid for them to be mad at anyone. Shit is already all over the illegal download scene.

Chiefnj2 09-03-2008 02:43 PM

2 of the songs are up on their website. IMO, Cyanide sucks, and the long one - the day that never comes(?) has a good musical ending (the last 4 minutes) but the beginning is pretty poor.

I think most people just refuse to let it enter their brains that the Stones have made any new music since the early 70s.

Don't see Under Cover of the Night on any all-time classics lists.

And U2 is just the opposite, they don't get debated because each new album is another brilliant step forward in pop music.

teedubya 09-03-2008 02:46 PM

I'm gonna download the torrent and erase it, like 500 times...

**** Lars.

Hmm. I was gonna' say it was because they've always sucked. Meh.

Thats a fair response, however I work in rock radio and have for over 17 years. This debate has raged since Ride (when i was just a rock music fan only), and no other band creates this much passion than Metallica. Everytime they put out something new, the debate begins. People talk about how they suck now (i have to hear it all--listners feel the need to tell me) and then the CD goes double platinum. Then the tours sell out in 2 hot seconds. Then we do music research to insure that we are playing what the listners want, and the first 2 pages, the highest rated songs, are Metallica songs.

To be fair, their managment are a bunch of tools. They really are. but not just with Metallica. Any band represented by their mgmt look like complete tools. Its just Metallica is the biggest band on their roster.
