The speech would have been a lot more effective if the niners weren't down 20+ points to a hapless/injured Seahawks team.
|
That is why I wanted Singletary as the Chiefs coach.

Singletary = Black Ditka.

Well, I will judge later how he is as a coach. Like a year or two.
Some aren't cut out for that type of job and would be better as say a corner back coach, like Herm for example. But if you are going to go the the hard line approach you better prepare to discipline a high profile player to set an example for the rest of the team. |

Come coach the chiefs Singletary. |
I don't really give a shit either way but Davis was the only player that ran all the way down to tackle the guy who picked off O'Sullivan and scored. He could have easily just given up as the rest of the team had and said **** it but at least he gave an effort. I think Singletary is just trying to change the general attitude of the team but I think he picked the wrong guy to use for an example.

A coach who runs the ball up the gut 3 times in a row trying to milk the clock. Listen to what else he said in that speech. "Don't give away games." - Translation? Safe, short passes. Ball control. :ZZZ: That's Herm Edwards for ya. Was the rant great! Hell yeah. But does that make him a good coach? No. Bring in an offensive mind. Somebody who truly plays aggressive and to win the game. |

I don't think with Mike Martz as your OC that a conservative offense is a possibility. Even he needs to be reigned in now and then. Martz lost that game against the Pats when he only ran Faulk 9 times. You use the weapons that you have, not just the ones you want to use. |
Just watched it, seems overblown - hard to say it was a "rant". Besides since VD seems ok with it, perhaps it was a smart move by a new coach that wants to set a tone for his style of coaching.
I bet the players think he's a player's coach, and not soft either..... |

Although you are correct that it doesn't make him agood coach, but I would hire him, and give him a chance. As for your offensive mind who plays aggressively. that was our last coach. 0 playoff wins. |
Singletary had 34 tackles in a single game against Houston in 1978.
Holy shit. |
The Bears went on to win 21-0. In the NFC Championship Game vs. the Los Angeles Rams, Singletary and the Bears dominated again. Mike Ditka said that the day before the game, he was talking to the offense while Singletary was in the next room giving the defense a motivational speech. While it started out quiet, within minutes, Samurai Mike was screaming at the top of his lungs and the defensive players were throwing chairs and knocking over tables.
