C'mon, you don't ever get stuck on the phone with someone? I used to think texting was a waste, but now? I think it is great.

Plus, it is IN writing. You can pull it up and show the person than you did tell them.

Of course, the bad part is: It is IN writing... so make sure that your texts don't implicate you in any way.

No, I don't. If I no longer wish to speak with someone, I simply hang up. If they call back and I still no longer wish to speak with them, I don't answer.

I just text someone if I have something quick to tell them, so that you don't get into a conversation.

Also useful when bored in a meeting.

I tried that with my wife once... Now, I text, luckily I still have one good eye.

I text because I hate small talk... I'll call someone if I want to have a freakin' conversation.

This. what annoys me is if it's the wife, and she texts me (knowing that we're both available to, you know, talk on the phone) asking me some important question that requires my input. I can't type out a novel. so, why not ****ing just call and not text?

I find texting to usefull in areas of poor coverage (all over in western OK) because they tend to go through when a call won't. Also when you want to send a note to someone without all the pesky chit chat time that goes along with a phone call.

I don't think my phone knows how to use that. I have the wierdest luck typing in the letters and not getting a word anything like what I want, it kills me when I type "if", get "of", then never get the option of "if" without deleting both letters and starting over, scrolling to each letter and manually selecting it. I even try making sure every couple of letters that I'm on track, I am, hit the last letter or two the word changes and I don't have an option for the word I'm typing and none of the phone's options make any sense.

Last month's bill, my daughter had less than ten texts away from 12,000. Her boyfriend was here when I asked her if that was possible, they both kinda looked down and grinned, then I heard a faint "Yeah". 'Course she texts all the time to everyone, family, friends, etc. I had to get unlimited texting because she kept sending them to me - call me, it's mobile to mobile, its free - but no can't do that.

Thank the Lord for unlimited texts!

You won't believe this, but there are some people that text thousands of times a month. I know a girl whose parents got her unlimited texting when she did over 5000 in one month.

That sounds familiar.

I think sometimes it is as simple as that. If someone texts me while I'm in the middle of something, I will look as soon as I get done. They don't expect me to answer right away like I would if it were a phone call. And I think it is much better than checking voice mail or answering machine.

It's easy Steve, push "reply" with the non-painting end of your brush, then push the "6" key 3 times with the same end of your brush, then the "5" key 2 times with the same brush end, then push "send" with the brush and your done - you just replied and told them "OK" that wasn't too hard was it?

:)

My phone has a dial and weighs 14 lbs.

And every time I try to take it with me the cord will only let me get so far.

So, I just send notes on a post-it. Doesn't seem very efficient though.

Me.

I'm still waiting for my Dick Tracy 2-way wrist communicator.

I have a $49.99 plan with TMO. That is for 1000 anytime minutes for two lines. I pay $9.99 for another line and $9.99 for unlimited text. I have free My Faves (5 numbers) on all three lines.

With this set up, the kids have NEVER gone over in minutes and text 8-10k texts a month. We use less than half of our minutes each month. I have 3 phone lines with TWO TEENAGERS and it costs me $70 a month.

STEAL.

Damn, that is a good deal. I think we pay 20 or 30 a month for unlimited texting family plan.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but it took me awhile to figure this out. My wife had to show me how it works. Now I love it.
