Another great trade for both teams. Gonzo to the Patriots for one of there 3 third round picks. Patriots can afford to give one up and Brady firing to Moss, Welker, and Tony would be awesome.

They wont get a 2nd for him ever.

They did get offered a 3rd last year but Carl couldnt let his baby leave the nest and backed out.

That was essentially a fourth round pick and considering Tony's production and Pro-bowl caliber season I'd say that the last pick in the third round was way too low. Peterson was right to ask for the Giant's second round pick.

Gonzalez has three good years left, IMO. Any team that is within their window of opportunity might cough up a second rounder to put them over the top. I'll bet you that the Giants wish they had made that deal for a second rounder. He would have been a perfect go-to target for Manning. Gonzales would have been the tonic for what ailed them last season.

God damnit Tony. There is no ****ing loyalty in the NFL. What a bunch of shit. This is a problem in professional sports all over though. I still can't believe that John Smoltz can pitch for the ****ing Red Sox...

The problem is that he costs a lot for only 3 years.

He's not expensive at all in the grand scheme of things.

I have a hard time believing that they're going to trade for Cassel, or worse yet, draft Stafford or Sanchez, and then ship Gonzales off to another team leaving the new QB with no reliable safety valve.

If they're going to trade Tony Gonzales (which is fine with me, BTW, in and of itself) they better damn well have a backup plan to get a TE in the draft.

This. Plus, IMO, it's MUCH less likely to get a player in the 3rd or 4th round who will be as productive in his entire career as TG will over the next 3-4 years.

I have not had a chance to read the whole thread yet, but this is from the Q&A with Haley from kcchiefs.com on the 17th of this month...

“The big thing that Scott (Pioli) and I are looking for, and we’re going to say this over and over again, we’re looking for guys that want to be here, not talk about it, but want to be a Kansas City Chief. That goes for guys on the roster and free agents. We’re looking for guys who want to be here.”

Maybe Tony should cry on Grandpa Dick's shoulder.

Pioli Zombie 03-25-2009 09:11 AM

If not a third, then get a 4th for 2009 and a 2nd in 2010.

Im so sick of this shit. I'm a huge TG supporter and want him here, but this is getting old already. IM tired of hearing about it.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Contrary to remarks by Kansas City owner Clark Hunt, Tony Gonzalez wants to be traded if the right deal can be made, a person close to the Pro Bowl tight end told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Too bad. You're not going anywhere TG, so STFU and catch passes.

chiefs1111 03-25-2009 09:39 AM

Tony is just upset because his boy Thigpen isn't the starting QB anymore so he's not going to get the ball thrown to him 30 times a game
