i think the people who go without the help feel like something was taken away from them, where as people who do go to the feel like something has been given to them

The fact is that there are meetings going on all the time. All over the damn place. Since AA is "anonymous", you'll be surprised to learn how many people are involved. From all walks of life. This means, obviously, that there are meetings to accommodate any possible schedule. You're not arranging for a haircut. Get your ass to a meeting. FAX |

Go get yourself into a program bro. NOW!!! Check in if you have to. Your life depends on it. Positive thoughts and prayers headed your way!!! Peace...

I've watched a lot of people go through this. Some join AA or check themselves into programs or both, some try do do it themselves. Among the people who seek help, some succeed, some fail and almost all relapse at some point.
Among people who don't seek help I have seen them all fail. Every one. So get yourself some help. Please. Prayers and best wishes for you, SR. |
Give 'em hell SR, I'll send ya some good mojo. ;)

sr, what sadness are you running from? it isn't alcohol, it's just the vehicle you're operating through.

not sure, FDE. I'm depressed, most likely, but you're right, it's self-medicating, is what it is. :( |

I usually just troll on these boards because I post from work, but what Fax said is dead on. Anyone that thinks they can beat it on their own is kidding themselves. Drink a bottle of castor oil and see how long your will power will keep you from heading to the john. A Real Alcholoic can never take that first drink. AA is a proven method, does it work everytime? No. It only works if you work it hard. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days, buy a Big Book and read on it at night. When the time is right you can start working the steps. You probably already have done step 1- Admitted you were powerless over alchol and your life had become unmanageable. Other than Fax's suggestion the only thing I might add is if you are suffering physically from alchol, such as DT's, etc. you probably should go to a detox center(NOT HOSP.). A person needs to get the fog out before soaking in the meetings, but once you are out and feeling good get your ass to a meeting and never forget what it was like when you hit your rock bottom (last spree) or you will repeat. |
