It was also a tough afternoon for QB Brodie Croyle, especially in the team’s 7-on-7 passing drill.

The odds in this drill favor the offense, but Croyle showed the rustiness of not having played and practice since last October. His first pass was intercepted by LB Monty Beisel. Croyle connected with FB Mike Cox on his second throw, but held the ball too long, drawing a loud verbal warning from the head coach. His third pass was incomplete, Croyle had to pull the ball down with nobody open on his fourth snap and WR Terrance Copper dropped his fifth throw. Croyle over threw WR Quinten Lawrence on his sixth toss, but then hit WR Jeff Webb and RB Jamaal Charles before overthrowing Webb again. That’s nine passes, only three completed with an interception.

In the same drill, Matt Cassell hit seven of nine, but did throw an interception when FS Jarrad Page picked off the pass. The QB who looked the best in the drill was Tyler Thigpen, who went five of six and the only miss was a drop by WR Taurus Johnson.

The RBs worked on picking up blitzing linebackers and things did not go well, as they lost most of the battles. It started with the first snap when OLB Mike Vrabel blew past RB Larry Johnson. From that point forward, the defense won nearly every snap. FB Mike Cox did a good job with a late rep against Vrabel, but the Chiefs backs had some problems in the drill.

Together will TJ, that defensive line is going to be better than anticipated. Oh, and Brodie Croyle will start the season as our second qb. He's fragile, but he can play circles around Thiggie. Mark my words. Mark them. Now!

Croyle may be the #2 coming out of camp. But if the pressure is hot enough that Cassel gets hurt, I'd be willing to bet Brodie gets hurt in the same game.

The Chiefs first-team receivers are lining up with Dwayne Bowe and Devard Darling, and Brad Cottam at tight end. When they got to three receivers, Bobby Engram comes in and replaces the fullback in the offensive set.

Hali and Tank getting pancaked. Lovely.

Quote:

During a drill involving both offensive and defensive linemen, center Eric Ghiaciuc pushed defensive tackle Tank Tyler over. The crowd, including both offensive and defensive players, let out some “oooh’s” after the play. Ghiaciuc offered to help Tyler up, but Tyler declined the hand and sprinted back to complete the drill.

The offfensive line was looking strong again when tackle Cameron Goldberg knocked linebacker Tamba Hali over pretty handedly. Hali got back up and continued to battle toward the “quarterback.”
This is WOOD INDUCING.

Quote:

Running back Jamaal Charles coughed up the first fumble of training camp during 11-on-11. This seemed to make Head Coach Todd Haley irate. Haley made the entire team take a jog. When they returned from their jog, Haley said, “We don’t go through the motions! If you want to go through the motions you’ll be (freaking) 2-14 again!” to some defensive players as they jogged by.

I like the accountability and all, but the 200yard runs are high school stuff.

Screw that. Jamaal Charles won't soon forget his fumble.

It may sound like a great idea to us. But I don't know that it will work on grown men. It barely work in pop warner.

Do you really think those guys aren't gonna hustle their ass off the next time there's a fumble if they know a 200-yard gasser is in their future otherwise?

Yup. I don't want to be 2-14 again. I'm gonna go run my ass off on the treadmill. I am INSPIRED.
