Don't get me wrong, (Awesomwa is) very good corner, but the guy has two int's in the last two years. He has 20 passes defensed over that time. That is not a good ratio.

Ya think maybe his stats look low because QBs don't like to throw in his vicinity?

Wow, you know, I didn't expect a Raider fan to be objective Asamougha.

You and I have not talked much. Those who know me will tell you I am no homer. IMO he is the best CB in the NFL and second is distant. He has very low numbers because QBs are smart enough not to throw his way. I hope whoever starts for KC decides to throw at him often.

Here is the problem with your theory. He has 20 passes defensed over the last two years. He has had 20 chances to pick off the ball.

None of the great ones have that poor of a ratio of passes defensed to interceptions over any two year span, especially int he prime of their career.

Come on guys, support your team.

Do you really think the Raiders are going to be as physical with the Chiefs as they were for there OWN Home Opener on MNF? I'm pretty sure the Arrowhead fans won't be feeding the fade that kind of energy.

Russell will lose the game on his own. He is terrible. And the Chiefs run D didn't look nearly as bad against the Ravens as some of you like to believe.

Did any of you pay attention to how BAD the Chargers were? Im sure that had a lot to do with why the Raiders looked OK. The Chargers looked soft and overweight. The Raiders looked poorly conditioned. There Skinny ass speedster Wr's were trying to catch there breath after every play. Russell looks like a complete idiot out there, his facial expressions say it all. Anyone catch him slouching to the side on the bench during the Chargers final drive? Dude is awful.

I am slightly worried about Michael Bush and Zach Miller, they will get some nice plays on us, but not enough to make up for the Herm Edwards like play calling. And the defensive scheme is so ****ing vanilla and predictable, Haley will kill himself if he can't find a scheme to beat that D.

We're going to be alright. They will get some decent runs on us, but not enough to sustain long drives, and god knows how many picks fatass will throw. Our D may not be great, but they were not blowing assignments all over the field this weekend like the Chargers were

Twenty passes defensed, only two interceptions. Twenty chances. Look at the truly great corners, the legendary corners, and none of them have a passes defensed to interception ratio this low.

Sorry, the difference between good and great corners is making the offense pay for a mistake. He doesn't do that enough.

Not saying he isn't good. Not saying he isn't better than every person in the Chiefs secondary.

And, honestly, he is very good in run support as well, and is a very good overall player. ... but I am not scared to throw to his side.

Yes, we beat the fade.

It will be batshit crazy, louder than the last 3 years minimum...the 'Arrowhead Advantage' starts its arduous climb from the cellar Sunday.

So, to be the best CB in the league, you have to not only completely lock down the opposition's WR1, you have to get interceptions as well - when they all but refuse to throw to your side of the field?

I'll take the Chiefs in a 20-17 nail-biter.

You are right! The guys who play in the NFL and those who are employed to evaluate talent missed this observation. I hope whoever starts at QB for KC heeds your expertise. :)

Hootie 09-15-2009 09:25 AM

like I said...the only way we win is if JeMarcus makes two or three unforced errors that lead to points...which is something that isn't necessarily unlikely...

TheGuardian 09-15-2009 09:25 AM

Nnamdi is a fantastic corner. Best in the NFL as far as anyone I have watched.

However I think we're going to be able to run the ball. And I think we'll load up and stop their ground game (which bogged down later in the game). Russell can't beat anyone. If we can simply MATCH the intensity we played with last week, we get Flowers and Cassel back. That should be enough. Then the Raiders will be 0-2 and will implode for the rest of the season like they always do.

I think some people are stuck in 1995 when they think Arrowhead is some magical home venue that creates a big home field advantage. The Chiefs have won 6 games in two years. 1 win at home last year and 2 at home in 2007. The Arrowhead mystique is gone.
