Every city I have ever visited in all 4 corners of the globe I have made sure I venture out to hang with the locals. Cancun is USELESS!!! Unless you're some college turd looking to hook-up. From the thread started it doesn't appear that that's what he's looking for.
Get a job.

Check out the canadian geek who can't find fun in Cancun. What up Poindexter?
Continue to hold down the northern United States, we'll nationalize you when we need you.

Mexico is. . .well, just Mexico. Seems like one place is just like the last place you visited.

"Just Mexico"? Mexico is a whole lot more than beach resorts ... Most people don't go to the more historic, cultural places in Mexico ... also, Mexican coffee is way underrated ... Bola de Oro is good stuff. Costa Rica is beautiful, but give Mexico a little bit more credit than "just Mexico" ...

On a side note Bob, we go there about every year, if you two ever want to head that direction, just let me know and you are more than welcome to join us.

I was looking at the rates at Banana Beach. They seem pretty reasonable. What do you usually pay for airfare? What time of year do you usually go?

We go in Feb and try to time it around the time the owner of the Banana Beach goes. Him and his wife are great. He is the only guy running around the island sporting wranglers, big ass rodeo buckle and a cowboy hat. Everyone knows who he is and loves the dude. Airline tickets are all over the board. They are low right now, but I took a spanking by booking "late" last year. You will get a lot better deal flying out of KC than I can get flying out of Billings. Great place to live, but they abuse you on airline tickets.

Hmmm, we've talked about going back to Mexico, but are open to other locations. We've talked about Jamaica or Aruba and other places. Belize looks pretty interesting. It all depends on my job situation though. We may have to skip a year and book something in 2011.

For an All-inclusive vacation in Mexico, you might check out Club Viva Maya in Playa Del Carmen. They have three different restaurants at the Hotel grounds and all are included in the price. One is a buffett type that has everything from bacon and eggs, to lunch meats and cheeses. The other two are a little more upscale and I think the only restriction, is having reservations days in advance. Beers and mixed drinks are free, as well(expect draught beer and well drinks). They have activities, as well, like Kayaking in the ocean, volleyball, etc... You can also sign up for tours like going to Chichenitza(which I highly recommend)

We usually rent a house now in Isla Mujueres(an island off of Cancun), so it's been a while since we went to Club Viva Maya, but it was still a pretty good deal, if I recall.

If that's the case, we could do that no problem. Any good leads on jobs over there bud? I hope you two are doing ok.

It was a well kept secret until about 10 years ago. It's hard to believe people still go to Cancun or Cabo.

Cabo's great for the deep sea fishing and it's a pretty cool, little party town, with quite a few amenities, plus the Baja dunebuggy racing is the shit, but I definitely prefer Ambergris Caye over Cabo San Lucas.
