Denver is a very good football team. A YOUNG football team.

It's quite obvious that they're going to be good for a very, very long time.

True, maybe. I thought the Titans were gonna be good again this yr.

CoMoChief 10-12-2009 01:41 PM

2003 Chiefs had a great offense.

Denver this season....not so much.

I still think Orton will tank.

Marshall is gonna have 300 yrds against our secondary...

We've all seen teams with one great dimension (offense or defense) suffer in the long run because they were lacking on the other side of the ball. So far, Denver has done what they needed to do on offense to win... thanks to a defense that has bent a little, but they haven't broken.

Sure, I would love to see the offense consistently put up 28 points and not leave me biting my nails in the final minutes... but, I'll take it and hope that both sides keep improving.

The 2003 Chiefs were #2 in total offense and #29 in total defense.

The 2009 Broncos are #6 in total offense and #2 in total defense.

Which team is likely to fare better?

It might be time for everyone to stop thinking that they suck...they clearly do not suck...and McKid won the team over...they are going to go 11-5 or 12-4 and win the division.

Actually, I predict they go 19-0 and finish what the Pats couldn't. :D

Well, at some point, it doesn't matter how "truly good" or "average" they are. Wins are wins.

Their remaining games:

at San Diego
at Baltimore
Pittsburgh
at Washington
San Diego
New York Giants
at KC
at Indy
Oakland
at Philly
KC

Even if they choke big-time, there are very probable wins there against the Redskins, KC (at least in Denver), and Oakland. So even if they totally shit their pants against the Chargers (twice), Chiefs in Arrowhead, Ravens, Steelers, Giants, Colts, and Eagles, they could go 3-8 and STILL be a .500 team. Of that bunch I mentioned, they only need 2 wins--that is, they only need to go 5-6 in the rest of the year--to finish at 10-6, which might be good enough to win the division.

They are playing very well this season. The Cincy win was a fluke, but they have earned the rest of those wins.

I hear ya... my preseason prediction was 5, maybe 6 wins - I've been happily surprised.

I have 3 bolds above, these are games I fully expect Denver to win, taking them to 8 wins.

I have 2 in blue, these are games that I think Denver should and very well oculd win... that would be 10 wins.

In order to be viewed as GREAT and a serious playoff contender, they need to win 4 of those 5 games, minimum and steal another one... like @ SD or when the Giants come to town.

Cincy beat the Ravens and Steelers... it's not impossible to think Denver could challenge either, especially the games in Denver.

We'll see.

I get why people say it was a fluke... yes, the tip drill was very much an incredible and lucky play. But, Denver held them to 0 for 59 minutes of that game... Cincy got lucky on that final drive and scored. It's not like Denver was trailing until that final tipped ball.

Lucky play? Yes.
Lucy win? No.

I agree and I said they are playing well this season. I guess I should have said lucky play. Cincy is for real and they did hold Palmer and company in check.

2003 Chiefs rode on the back on Dante Hall
Plummer turned back into Plummer
