take that philly bitches!!!

Yup. Philly was set to take him. He will definitely be a play maker for this offense. If we could have gotten a nose I honestly think this draft would have been a fantastic one. However it's such a glaring need and we made two really stupid picks (Arenas and the tight end) that's just a D or C-.

McCluster's so small and feeble. Watch him block a LB no problem. Good footage and breakdown by Mayock. He is REALLY excited about this guy.

Sorry had forgotten to link video. Enjoy.

I actually like Moeaki... he's a very good all around tight end... so I would move it up to a B.... and the Arenas pick really tells me that they don't like any of our corners outside of Flowers and maybe Carr.... and they are probably right I mean we got torched in the air last year... I still have images of Steve Smith killing us, an don't forget about Gaffney having his career game against us week 17 that was ****ing embarassing

Just for the shit of it. Watch Berry Vs McCluster.

I think its safe to say that Eric Berry is why we drafted McCluster.

I imagine when they watched tape of Berry, they saw that game and said "uh yeah, if this kid is the best safety to come out of college for the last 10 years then we'd better get that running back that made him look like a fool."

Seriously though, I was pissed that we took him but it wasn't because I didn't or don't think the kid is incredibly talented.

In short I think he'll be a good weapon and he's our wildcat.

McCluster the Wildcat. Sounds like a cartoon.

For as high as we picked him, they better have him either returning kicks or punts as well as working out of the slot.

Take from an SEC fan: " I watched Dexter have two 250+ yard games and always thought the defense would kill him out of frustration when they got their hands on him; Trouble is they rarely got their hands on him; There's not really a back to compare him too because his moves and unreal speed are strictly a "Dexter Thing"

I would agree that our secondary probably needed upgrades. But, that being said, it is a bit premature IMHO to upgrade the secondary when teams are so sucessful running against us that there's really no need to even test that secondary much. I was really hoping our run defense/pass rush would get more focus in the draft. I hope Crennel has a plan to address this because our run defense/pass rush last year sucked.

johnny961 04-24-2010 09:56 PM

I DO like the McCluster pick though. Looks like the kid will be a stud.

TRR 04-24-2010 09:57 PM

Pioli and Haley seem to see McCluster as a WR and a WR only. They may have some gadget plays for him as a RB, but they are going to do their best to develop him as a slot WR.

When DMC was drafted, I was like WTF, why another damn RB. I forgot that he started his college career as a WR, and definitely caught the ball a lot in college.

Here's to hoping he embraces being a full time slot WR, and he transitions well.

No doubt about it. I think the return game will be solidified.

A lot of the expects had Arenas listed as the top returner in the Nation. In fact, his return skills alone are so good, and was/is the reason for him being drafted this high.

The good news about Arenas is, he has been a good returner throughout his whole ENTIRE career. He was effective returning kicks throughout his high school career, and carried over those skills/assets in college. I just think he is naturally gifted in that area.

His quickness and elusiveness have won me over. We have been a slow team. Now, we have 2 quick players and an OC that will know how to use them. I like the pick.

I am excited about having McCluster in Red and Gold !!!!!!

ChiefMojo 04-26-2010 08:14 AM

The more I look over this draft, the better I LOVE IT! We really struck gold with our top five picks imho. Each player fills a dire need for us. Sure we could've used a NT and more LB help, but the players we did get also fitted needs. This team has a lot of holes to fix. I think Lewis is meant for special teams and Sheffield could possibly work out as 3-4 OLB can generally be had in later rounds in the first place.

We definitely upgraded our play making ability on both offense and defense. McCluster/Moeaki are likely to be big weapons for us. Asamoah (sp?) is the interior OL we all dreamed of drafting. Remember this was a weak draft for interior OL and we were lucky to grab one of the very few elite guys at that position. He can fill either G or C for us.

Defensively Arenas gives us a big play nickel CB. He is the top return man in the draft and gives us a CB that is excellent at sacking the QB and playing physical all-around. I doubt highly Arenas lets Miles Austin get away like Leggett did!!! Arenas is a pretty damn good tackler that is built like a safety strength wise. On top of that we have the icing on the cake with the likely best overall player in the draft in Eric Berry. A jack of all trades type of safety. Great in coverage, but also great in the box player.

Watching that Berry vs. McCluster vids told me two things. One Run DMC is dynamite with the ball in his hands. It also showed me that Berry is all over the field and seems to be always in on the play. He reminds me not only of Ed Reed, but Troy P!
