Surgery = risk, no matter how minute it is or insignificant (sp) it may seam to be. There is risk.

I'm having surgery next week on friday, for my back. I have a herniated disk in my low lumbar. It is crushing a nerve and I have been in great pain since April this year. Sucks to be me! I'm hopefull however and am looking forward to the relief that the surgery may give me. It's called a diskectomy. Doc said I should be back to normal with in a week time recovery. I'm not even scared cuz I am marveled at how far they have come in medical practice. There is risk Doc said. "Possible nerve damage, infection, paralize, or death." No worries :)

I've liked Cassel more this last month and have become more comfortable with him as our QB. I still think Croyle can do a great job and just want the best for the Chiefs. So I am exited who ever gets to play on sunday but think it would be for best, if Cassel takes this week off just for his own health and long term success for the Chiefs, so that no unnessisary complications from his recent surgery occur.

~skews my spelling~like I care.

RedThat 12-09-2010 02:11 PM

I wouldn't take the chance of playing him if I were Haley.

It's just too much of a risk. You want to ensure that your quarterback is fully recovered and will come back healthy in hopefully at least 2 weeks.

It's not like this is a MUST win situation for the Chiefs anyway? Why not just rest Cassel.

There's a reason why a lot of players seek outside opinions when dealing with team doctors. Most of them are corrupt due to the pressure to clear players to participate. In fact, a study was done a few years ago that said the current Chiefs docs at the time (I'm not sure if they are still there) were among the least trusted by the players of any NFL franchise.

Now, I realize the guy giving the opinion in the OP isn't affiliated with the team, but these guys can be easily pressured to make the wrong decisions, and part of that onus is on the player, who often wants to hit escalators in his contract.

i figure we lose with either QB so why not let Croyle be the sacrificial lamb.

If Matt Cassel Plays, Chargers Linebacker Expects To 'Put Him Back On The Bench'

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/1...ut-him-back-on

If Matt Cassel is going to play on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers then news of his appendectomy may as well have been a bulls eye on his body. This according to Chargers LB Stephen Cooper who says if the Kansas City Chiefs QB does play, the Chargers will try to "put him back on the bench if we have to."

A couple of things. First, this explains why some coaches are coy about injury information -- why give the opponent a target? Second, the Chiefs wouldn't let Cassel play if they felt there was a serious risk involved, and one of those risks is getting drilled in the abdomen by someone like Cooper. That's something they'll have to weigh.

Per Chris Jenkins of the San Diego Union Tribune, Cooper was asked if his comments meant he would take a shot at Cassel's abdominal region.

"Whatever presents itself," he said. "We are just trying to make sure we get him down, make sure we try to get the ball, and try to get some turnovers. So, if the opportunity does present itself, we are going to try to hit him as hard as we can and see what happens from there."

We'll find out when Friday's injury report comes out if Cooper will even get the opportunity to hit Cassel

Yup, if I was an offensive player I might look for him on a tipped pass to remind him that we will do whatever we need to make sure his ass is on the bench...
