yea, im starting to think that the NHL would work better in KC than the NBA.

I wouldn't mind either one actually. They both have their positives and negatives.

I get that but what do you watch in April, May, and June? Next year will have a decent Royals team for the first time in forever, but in years past April-July would be a sports desert without the NBA.

Kobe's been in the league since 96 or 97...Lebron since 2003. Im not sure of the NBA's current draft policies.

Oklahoma city is closer than Chicago? I know it's only about an 8 hour drive.

Got to finally see the Mavs when a title. Going to just assume they would have repeated. But yeah it's not as important.

NCAA bball has a much bigger fanbase IMO.....fanbase will not suffer. NBA is still trying to repair it's image from the retirement of MJ.

I know all you beakers think that, but it's not the case. The year Missouri made it to Elite 8 I think I watched about half an hour of their games, combined. I just don't like basketball. Never watched it as a kid, my parents didn't watch it, I didn't play it, nothing. I've been to three Bulls games back in the Jordan era, but nothing since. I don't think I've watched a professional game (unless it just happened to be on a bar or something) since.

Its amazing really how much hatred for the NBA is here.

1) Its the KU basketball effect. They think its the greatest thing ever, which it is not.
2) No local team in the state ie either KC and St. Louis.
3) Jordan effect. Fans of Jordan only, not the NBA.

1) To some of us, CBB is the best ever, winning is cool. Of course having three fairly consistently competitive teams in Kansas is pretty special. 1981, when all three were in the Sweet 16, was awesome. It just doesn't get much better.

2) I went to a couple KC Kings games, one in KC and one in Wichita as an exhibition. Wow, both places were almost empty, and I wasn't surprised when the team went to Sacramento.

3) Can't argue with that, all sports have it. Lebron kind of crapped on the fans this year after losing. He is rich, and the fans are poor. That probably didn't endear him with a lot of folks.

Something else no one around here watches: hockey.

I learned how to play in college, which gave me an appreciation for the sport, and I lived in Omaha for a year, so I attended a lot of college hockey games.

Watching the Thunder last year was the closest I've ever come to rooting for an NBA team... they're somewhat close to KC, they have a couple of former Jayhawks, and of course there's Kevin Durant. But, then watching the Heat flop around and cry reminded me why I've never gotten hooked on pro basketball.

Holy crap, time is flying. I figure Lebron just finished his first contract with Cleveland last year, so it must be 5 at the most. But I degress, it is the NBA, no thanks.
