Without reading the entire thread I would suggest the following: Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Generation Kill. If it's a western you crave check out Lonesome Dove. Robert Duval is incredible.

What's the deal with using the same actor for two different roles in seasons one and two. Confused the hell out of me. I was thinking, is this his long lost twin, or what? Weird.

Dude me too. It unnerved me throughout the whole season.

Haven't seen season 3 yet.

They hired a GREAT Actor for a limited role then needed another. End of story.

Molitoth 04-18-2012 05:56 AM

he played both roles great, didn't bother me one bit.

"The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back."

Great line. Swearingen is awesome.

I wasn't annoyed by it, just confused at first. Watching several episodes at a time probably made it worse, because his face was still fresh in my mind.

Btw, he's pretty funny on "Raising Hope". (Underrated sitcom)

Great line. Swearingen is awesome.

Probably the most salient thing I've ever heard on television, was my signature here for longer than I care to admit.

OTOH, the most uplifting moment on Deadwood for me was when Seth smacked the **** out of Alma's deadbeat dad, and the most empathetic moment was when Swearingen wid-wifed the pastor to his death.

Such an excellent show, in every way.

I'm down to the show finale that I will watch tomorrow night. 3 Seasons and this show kicked ass all the way through. Al Swearingen is now one of my fav characters in all of TV.
Infact, this whole show was cast brilliantly. The acting is amazing by nearly everyone.

I thought there'd be a movie down the line
it's getting too far removed now

Late to the party as usual. Got Amazon Prime a week ago and just got started on season 3 after more or less marathoning the first couple of seasons over the past week. There needs to be more of this show.

Maaaaaan, I miss that guy... awesome scene and that show was ENTIRELY too short lived.

CoMoChief 06-16-2014 08:09 PM

Deadwood is awesome.

Closest thing is Hell on Wheels, but Deadwood is much better.

Mav 06-17-2014 01:23 PM

I gave up on that show after season 3. It started off really strong but after a while, fell to shit. It was waaay too far up it's own ass.
