I think they were retained because Spanos didn't think they could get anyone better. Which maybe the same position the Chiefs are in with Romeo.

No Chiefs coach has ever accomplished what Turner has in the NFL except Hank. And while Turner wasn't the head coach...he was the OC of the Cowboys when they kicked anybody's ass that would line up across from them.

He became much more aggressive with the Chargers and his big game losses were due to players not making plays and not coaching decisions. Heck for that matter even when he was play not to lose with KC it was 3 missed fgs and 3 ints that kept him out of a AFC championship game. The Chiefs have never been as good as they were when he was coach less the 65 toss power trap days. No Charger fan can look at you with a straight face and say they are happy Turner is returning unless the are blind homers.
