No. You can't.

Lefthanders that can sit at 95 throughout an entire start are INCREDIBLY rare. Guys that can do that while also showing a plus changeup and good curveball are even more rare. Duffy needs some finishing, but has tremendous upside and is close to realizing it.

He needs to command better, but that's the LAST thing that comes back after elbow surgery. He needs to figure out he can trust his stuff against major league hitters (a lesson he appeared to be taking to heart before his elbow exploded last May).

Not to mention Ive never seen a guy more positive and genuinely supportive of his teammates, and he has to be by far the happiest player Ive ever seen that he part of the Royals organization.

Im really rooting for him to get back from the injury and kick ass!

I really hope we win, obviously, but I want Getz to have a terrible day at the plate for obvious reasons.

We're 0-7 when Getz leads off.

How far would you guys push Duffy if he keeps the no-no intact with a high pitch count?

He hasn't pitched more than 6 innings in his career. Minors included.

That wasn't an answer to the question.
If Duffy doesn't allow a hit this inning, would you bring him back out for the 7th? Or let the pen take over? Assuming his pitch count is near 100.

At 80 now... tough call

penbrook 08-16-2013 12:49 PM

That's not true for his career, just for this season.

Wade, you can just trot your ass out to the bullpen.
