At least half my employees have beards. It depends on the work environment and culture though. More corporate = less facial hair.

It also depends on how it grows and looks on your face. There are some people whose beards grow out so terribly and patchy that they are just genetically disqualified from ever having a nice beard. Sorry, doesn't look good on you and nothing you can do about it, you must shave.

This is the key - if it looks neat and trimmed, its not an issue.
