Sorry, I don't think it's funny. It's not being "self serious." A Chiefsplanet member had a significant fire at his home. He can't live there anymore.

If this were some beloved member of this board, people cracking jokes right now wouldn't be accepted.

Inmem is a human being, a husband, a father. I think when someone suffers a tragedy - and the loss of a home to fire is tragedy in my book - you don't crack jokes.

JMO.

I appreciate your kind words brother, thank you.

Well what a ****ing mess. The fire didn't travel through any other apartments nor did we lose anything. Most of the damage is in the attic. What a **** up day. Thank you FMB for your support and kind words, you are an awesome guy. Everything is moved out with the help of several family members and friends.

BTW I hope we get our cleaning deposit back.

Not the time for jokes. :shake:

I'd worry less about kind words and more about figuring out where you ****ed up and how not to do it again.

It was something I did everytime I bbq'ed. It was my fault, tough lesson learned.

Glad to hear nobody was harmed.

When I use my chimney starter I set a cookie on the ledge of the patio when a second round pizza cookie sheet on top of that one. This creates a gap between the cookie sheets. I set my chimney starter on top and light my coals. I did this numerous of times, with no issues.

I dumped the coals into my smoker around 9:30 and checked periodically on the temp. Apparently the cookie sheets got extremely hot and caught the side on fire. Like I said, I did this several times. I ****ed up and should have removed the sheets back into the apartment.

Get everything wet you can out of there. If you don't, expect mold to grow rapidly. If you have a dehumidifier handy, use it 24/7 at least for a week. The smell from smoke will take some time to go away. Simple Febreeze works best.

Most important thing though is getting anything wet out. Mold sets in, total refurbishment will need to be done. You might be paying for a remodel anyway.

Y'know, we're all jumping to conclusions here. How do we know that his apartment doesn't always look like that, and he's just referring to a barbecue sauce spill on the carpet or something?

Because only you have a house that looks like that without a fire? :hmmm:
