If you're going to roll the dice with young unproven players, then do it. Let the guys get their snaps and take their lumps. You can't grow young guys by burying them behind a couple bums like Amerson and Scandrick.

I dont agree with the way this has been handled at all.

I'm actually a bit interested to see how this turns out, as I think it's something we'll see more teams go to.

They seem to be looking to get 3 guys out on the field together that can play inside and outside. Look at Fuller, Nelson, and Scandrick. All have experience playing the slot, etc.

I don't think these are the 3 they really want longterm, but there may be a bit of a pattern.

I also think they need to play the young guys and let whatever happens happen. Put Tremon smith out there and let him play.

Look at what Dallas did last year. Now they're young corners are a strength.

I would rather see Tremon Smith play over Amerson.

They'll cut Amerson. For ****s sake surely.

I’m really holding out hope that Berry is the equalizer here. I mean, we were super down on this defense after preseason last year too (Berry was out then as well) and we were simply a different team with him in there that first half against NE. Dude is just a general out there when he’s in the game.

If Berry is healthy he’s one of those rare players that can elevate the play of those around him both directly and indirectly. If he’s not healthy well...we’re ****ed.

Eh, New England moved up and down the field on them in the first half, the Chiefs got lucky to have a few key 4th dow stops.

He would help if he's 100%, but it seems unlikely.

O.city 08-27-2018 10:42 AM

The Chiefs haven't been able to develop anyone at the corner position. They need a young late round pick or UDFA or something to actually be good for a change.

RunKC 08-27-2018 10:42 AM

Eric Murray was a corner in college, and a good one.

Why not play him there?

O.city 08-27-2018 10:43 AM

I don't know that he has the speed to do it in the NFL? Maybe?

Man our local sports media is so soft. We should have been given some kind of answer on the Peters trade.

I think they did short of calling him a jerk. He simply became too much of a pain in the rear. So many on this site seem dumbfounded that a player of his caliber could be sent packing just because he became unbearable to deal with. Everybody seems to forget that the Hall of Fame just put in two guys (TO & Moss) that put up amazing numbers and elevated teams with their play for a while, but eventually wore out their welcomes. This is not new, the baggage became just too much. Just because the Chiefs have not run his name through the mud does not mean it is not fairly clear why they moved on from him. It was documented before they picked him. It was documented while he was here.

That one pro is going to be looking pretty good here in a few weeks.

The Peters trade is difficult for fans, which is understandable. As I've stated countless times, the move made this offseason were not for the 2018 season, but two years from now. They got something for Peters before he walked. Fine. Does that suck? Yeah. But while we fans are not really into transitional years, that's what 2018 is. Get ready for shootouts. We have an offense what can do its part, but yeah the defense has some real holes.

Next year we will have a first round pick, probably in the 15-25 selection range. We also will get another 2nd rounder for Peters. Get ready for some fatties and cornerbacks!

Anyone who thinks this team is making a deep run into the playoffs this year is just setting themselves up for disappointment. Now that doesn't mean I don't think they can win the division or even make the playoffs as a wildcard - in fact I expect them in the playoffs, which would be an amazing season for our new young QB.

That is what seems to be missing from many of these "discussions". If we had not traded Peters this off season we would have been letting him walk. Should we have gotten more for him? Maybe. But the realistic alternative was getting nothing after this season. And who knows what we may have gotten from him on the field this season.

I don't care if my CB isn't a great or willing tackler if he's taking the ball away.
