Reading this thread is hilarious. Comparing Wilson to Mahomes is a little laughable at this point. Lets see how Mahomes' resume looks after 5 years. Wilson's won a superbowl and has been a consistent player for 7 years and counting now.

Yeah but they've got Carr. A man that cries on the field.

I'd say his resume is pretty goddam good so far. AFCCG, NFL MVP, passing records destroyed left and right. And that's just year 1.

For a raider fan the worst possible outcome for you is that Pat is a consistent payer for the next 7 years and counting.

If we had a better GM Iwouldn't worry about it but we don't. Veach hasn't shown the ability to sign players to good team deals. This is a go for it all year and we haven't. Our big sell out and screw the future year and all we really got was Tyrann that's big time. Spags new staff better be really good at game planning.

I'd love to read the literature on that. Link?

The tears make it a lot easier and more efficient when it comes time to remove his eyeliner before he goes to bed. He's being smart. Too bad Pat didn't think of that strategy!

Also,

This idea that a QB taking "15-18%" of the cap = no Super Bowl is just downright goalpost moving fake news.

Tom Brady has won about the last 29 Super Bowls. Of course that is going to manipulate the data. They are also winning with Tom Brady and a bunch of underpaid m00ks who are propped up by the best coaching staff / scheme staff in NFL history.

Anybody who thinks Patrick Mahomes shouldn't be so insanely paid is an absolute moron. Anyone, who is a Chiefs fan, that thinks the formula to winning a Super Bowl is to Carl Peterson'ing the QB position and spending on the other 52 is just a mouth breathing lunatic.

If Patrick Mahomes demands 30% of the ****ing cap, you give him 35% and a Bob Kraft sponsored handjob and thank your lucky ****ing stars that the team you cheer for has #15 playing QB every Sunday.

I mean, good ****ing Lord people -- we sat through a LIFETIME of Steve DeCassel's. Just ... *sigh.* How are people even still mad on this website?

New World Order 04-16-2019 09:37 PM

Mahomes just needs a steady line, 1 or 2 weapons around him on offense, and a d that won't shit itself and we'll be in the hunt every single year.

KC had one of the worst defenses ever assembled last year, and we were 1 point away from the SB.

I think this data more than supports giving Mahomes the contract and letting him make the big plays that win playoff games.

However, the data ALSO supports teams turning down the meddlesome game manager types who are also demanding top 3 QB money.

It will be very interesting to watch Watson and Trubisky when we enter into extension talks with Steinberg. You can't possibly tell me with a straight face that it's smart to pay Mitch ****ing Trubisky 15-18% of the team's salary cap. And I'd probably argue the same thing for Dak in Dallas. Even if those guys don't aim to reset the QB market and only go for top 10 QB money, they're still tipping the scales by commanding at least $25 million each season on average.

If you pay that much and get Dak Prescott/Mitch Trubisky level production, then your team has no chance at winning a Super Bowl. Zero. Nada. You may as well investigate moving on from those guys and trying to find cheaper veterans or drafting another rookie with the hopes of one day catching lightning in a bottle. If we didn't have Mahomes and Alex Smith's agent was coming at Veach with the contract numbers that Washington gave him, Veach would need to stand his ground and let the guy walk. Or tag/trade. Do something. Anything to not pay a game manager that much money.

I 1000% agree, Mr. SNR.

But the Chiefs don't find themselves in that predicament, neither did the Seahawks. Just because Tom "Everyone Hates You" Brady cheats for his team and allow them to circumvent the cap because he has a lifetime ambassador to the team contract, doesn't mean Rodgers, Brees, P. Manning and, soon, Mahomes are "bad teammates", or "not team players." It's insane babble by a bunch of moron m00ks that can't discern the difference between their jobs at Mazda dealerships and Patrick Mahomes, most important athlete in Kansas City history. Yeah, Patrick, take a "hometown" discount so Clark can make more billions off of everyone in the country watching you play QB. Uh huh, uh huh, yep. I lurk this board an hour a day and can't believe there are actually people who think paying Patrick Mahomes will be a mistake. Like, what? That has to be trolling.

Of course, I don't want to pay Jay Cutler, or Ryan Tannehill, or Joe Flacco, or Kirk Cousins, or Alex Smith, or any JAG that is good for 7 wins and relies on talent for +-3.5 more every year, and if lucky, a 1st or 2nd round playoff exit / stomping by an elite QB.

Did anyone watch Patrick Mahomes last year? In literally every game that we didn't house the opponent -- every single time we needed him to score points (minus, I guess, the Rams game, I guess...), the dude went down and housed a score. Every ****ing time. Denver. Seattle. New England. New England. Oakland. Ravens. Seriously. The only two times that he "failed" us, if you can even say that, was the 1st and 10 against LAR from the ~50 after the big Tyreek catch -- too much there. And, perhaps, I guess, the Chargers game where he went 3 and out and gave Phyllis another chance to beat us on TNF -- but my God, that's really ****ing grasping at straws.

The dude has "it." Russell Wilson has "it." Tom Brady has "it." I'm not even sure Peyton Manning had "it." The 3 I just mentioned do.

The notion that Mahomes isn't worth every god damn salary cap dollar times about 3 to us (fans) and Clark (owner) is unbelievably dense thought.

m00k n00b 04-16-2019 10:11 PM

I've seen Andy Luck get absolutely fist ****ed by Tom Brady about 11 times, a few even in the playoffs --

Mahomes should have gotten fist ****ed by Tom in the AFCCG -- but instead, because he's such a strong cocked, big dicked mother ****er -- he literally took the lead 3 different ****ing times (or 2, I don't ****ing know) in the most gut wrenching, riveting, fierce 4th quarter I have ever seen. Those 2 QB's just flat out refused to lose that game. If Mahomes had 10 more seconds or DeMarcus got 10 more yards on that 'game tying FG' drive at the end -- Mahomes was gonna win that game. Without a doubt. I was the only ****er in the stadium that saw the flag and didn't preemptively celebrate the INT (god I wanted to punch everyone around me), and I was the only 1 that knew that Mahomes was going to, at the very least, get a FG with 39 seconds left after the "1st game winning" Brady score.

As a Chiefs pessimist my whole life -- the fact that even I KNEW that he was going to not let me down in that situation, is fascinating.

Oh, yeah -- I also knew we were going to lose the toss and lose the game. Like, I was 100% certain (not even 99%) that New England was winning that toss.

Because, Chiefs.

m00k n00b 04-16-2019 10:12 PM

but alas -- you morons that are so appalled with these QB contracts should just STFU and get over it. QB's matter -- they are going to get paid. No one gives a **** about Osemi Osamala, elite LG. You guys keep paying those guys and trying to find Russell Wilson's in the draft -- and I'll stick with #15.

How many MVPs or 50 td and 5000 yd seasons does he have in those 7 years?

I dont believe you can extend a 1st round pick after only 3 years...I think it has to be going into the final year of the contract and why Jones and Hill are now eligible.

Why on earth would KC rip up a rookie contract?...they have Mahomes for 2 additional years under the franchise tag after his 5th year option....not that it would come to that....but that's four more years after this season.

They will give him a record contract but not until after his 4th season (or maybe even his fifth)...KC has a 2/3 year window.

Mahomes looming contract is exactly why KC shouldn't be using top 100 picks to move up....they have 8 in the next two years. The need to cheaply restock the roster. If a good OT falls...KC should consider it. Cutting Fisher next year (2020) saves almost $10 mil...and I believe he has no guaranteed money in 2021. He's going to want a new contract the same year Mahomes will get extended...and he's a pretty average LT.
