Kafka as OC

Nagy back as "Senior Offensive Spread Analyst/Assistant HC"

No.

He refused to play to Fields strengths, just as he did with Trubisky.

trubisky had strengths?

but...but...he was the most 'pro-ready' QB in that draft!

This would be ideal. I think he’d excel in the role. Feel like we’re due for dusting off some innovation. Maybe focus more on beating these new looks we’re getting.

Hey if Spags gets a HC job - I don't think he will just spit-balling here - I would take Zimmer or Flores (won't happen) as DC.

Also, really hope EB gets a damn HC job... dude deserves it

Kafka has a stronger, deeper relationship with Mahomes. I know Nagy isn’t some stranger, and he did coach Mahomes in his rookie season, but so did Kafka (as the QB coach).

To be quite honest, unless Reid or Mahomes is dissatisfied with the work Kafka has done, I’d view it as a bit of a locker room buster to hire back Nagy as OC. No, nothing that would tank the relationships built between players and coaches, but it might cause some players to go, “Uhh… okay…” And why even take that risk? It was one thing to trade away Alex (Kelce really loved playing with him) but that’s because we had Mahomes. Nagy is hardly the Mahomes of offensive coordinators, even if he’s pretty good.

Go with Kafka. It makes zero sense not to

If Nagy were interested in such a role, that would be pretty perfect.

It gives Kafka his 'attaboy' and promotion to retain him, it also brings Nagy's creativity back into the system.

Only in the preseason against the Bears.

It's a situation where I'm inclined to defer to Andy.

He knows more than anyone what kind of contributions Nagy made to the offense. And man, what Nagy was able to get out of Smith that last year was really incredible.

If Reid believes Nagy was instrumental in that performance, he'll likely want Nagy back. And if he's willing to give Nagy that job over Kafka, there's a reason for it.

Ultimately I really just hope someone hires Bieniemy away so we can have the conversation. I'm 'bout done with the EB experiment.

Once you leave, you can never really go back home.

No one was clamoring for Peterson when he was fired from Philly...

Peterson was never able to coax the kind of production out of Smith that Nagy was.

Peterson was pretty ordinary, IMO. But when we gave Nagy the reins you saw significant and productive change w/ the offense. I just think Nagy was better at the job.

I mean....I wouldn't have a problem with it. He was a good OC.

Kafka would do just fine as well. Would be fine with both.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-12-2022 10:18 AM

He'll find a team where he can actually run the offense rather than come back under Reid's shadow. It doesn't make much sense for him to crawl back yet.

From there he'll either get another shot at being a HC or flame out and end up back here as 'Assistant Head Coach' or something along those lines, as the NFL Coaching Tree prophecy has foretold.
