Impressive that it was post #1.

Total piece of shit car. I mean, im with you, i loved that thing when i was like 10. Everydamn bookfair in school i was oogling over Countach posters....you know the one...with the fog on the ground...

A few years back a shop asked us to weld up some chassis stuff on one. No lie, we had to be sloppy on the welds so as to not make it look repaired, but original. ****ing chopper gunned fiberglass panels....yuck. I was so disappointed.

Same thing with Mike Tyson's Lambo Diablo. Fiberglass was splitting from the chassis, stress fractures everywhere...

I think the 89 version was better (than 84, 85), but I completely understand what you're saying.

Yeah I've never heard a positive word about those things. Poor handling, not even all that powerful. Mostly hand-built which means that some of the build quality is ass. Just big ol' heavy piles of nostalgia that can get waxed off the line by a top end Camry these days.

Lol, did it? I didn't even know that.

We've done a number of Cobra Replica cars as insurance repair jobs from guys losing control and putting them in the wall. We even developed a rear sub frame crossmember to help stabilize the rear of these cars.

As such, we're in with the local Cobra car club and i've heard enough of their stories to know these things are death traps lol.

Yeah, the other Super Snake, the CSX 3033. Sold to Bill Cosby, it scared the hell out of him so he sold it to a collector who promptly lost control of it and drove it off a cliff into the Pacific.

But hey, it was Carol Shelby's daily driver for many years. If Shelby can drive it, so can I.

When they reintroduced the GT like a decade+ ago he drove up to Canada to buy one off a guy who bought one, owned it for two months, and then decided to sell it because it scared the shit out of him to drive it. No joke, lol.

My neighbor that had all the Boss 9 Mustangs sold most of them and bought him a GT40. His is black with silver stripes. Man it sounds good when he lights it up

It's a Ford right?

Yeah.

Henry Ford Jr. had it purpose built to win LeMans after Enzo Ferrari scuttled a deal for Ford to buy Ferrari's racing division. Ford was so pissed off that he essentially spared no expense to try to build a LeMans car in about 18 months.

After a couple of stumbles, the 2nd (maybe 3rd) iteration of it just dominated everything. Won pretty much every race they entered it in.

All because a rich guy got his feelings hurt.

Ouch. Well, at least he had a nice Thelma and Louise moment at the end.

Is it an actual GT40 or a Ford GT?

The new version is just the Ford GT. A legit GT40 (named for its height, IIRC) is damn near a unicorn.

Did Thelma and Louise shit themselves as the back end kicked out at high speeds?

Because I gotta believe this dude shit himself after the back end kicked out at high speed.

That's what happened on one of these insurance jobs we did. They're notorious for it.

What could possibly the most fun vehicle in history to drive:

The 1975 Lancia Stratos:

https://static1.hotcarsimages.com/wo...&h=500&dpr=1.5

An absolute legend of a rally car. Had that little Ferraro Dino V-6 in it that revved to the heavens and just tore the hell out of any surface you put it on.
