Kobe by far was the one that stunned me the most.
I remember just being in complete disbelief. The manner in which he died made it even more shocking. |

I remember there were a few teachers in the room, and they literally didn't know what to say. The poor teacher cried when it became obvious what happened, and the other teachers just looked at each other, and then us, and then her, and they just looked stunned. Eventually, one of them came back to reality, and unplugged the television. They ushered out the crying teacher, and soon a couple of counselors were in the room talking to us. We really didn't understand completely what happened. Not everyone had been paying attention, and most of us had our heads filled with teenage thoughts. |
Princess Diana is the first one that I really remember

Earliest? Elvis. I was 5.
Heaviest? John Lennon. I was almost 8, but was obsessed with The Beatles. |

Joe Delaney was pretty shocking for me.
The death of Terry Kath was shocking particularly how it happened. Completely changed the direction of one of my favorite bands Chicago. Honestly were not listenable to me afterward. |

I was on my way to Table Rock lake when I heard Elvis died. Lots of 30 year old ladies sobbing. Payne Stewart. I never replaced him as my favorite golfer. Likewise when John Bulushi died, so did the comedy on SNL, in my opinion. However, JFK's death had a hugh affect on the world and I remember that day in detail.

Anthony Bourdain's suicide was pretty profound on me as far as a celebrity I've never met goes. He did his time in the trenches and was living the dream it seemed.
Loved his shows. |
Paul Walker simply because he burned alive in a car.
Dale Earnhardt sticks out too because of the type of crashes drivers walk away from and then one of the best drivers in the world goes out in that wreck. |
