Gabbert had a few scrambles to win that week 18 game ROFL

Chase Daniel would’ve been the better option.

1. Good locker room guy
2. Still very physically skilled
3. Missouri Tiger

Missed opportunity by Veach to bring home a true son.

Chase Daniel was out of the league last year...

Interesting, so this means the Chiefs were looking to sign Wentz during the middle of last season? Because he signed with the Rams in November…

Only because he had given up on throwing picks.

Rasputin 04-01-2024 10:12 PM

Should we bring him in on fourth and one and run the QB sneak?

Womble 04-01-2024 10:13 PM

That's actually a huge upgrade.

It’s still weird how he didn’t seem to get another chance after an acceptable season with the Colts.

He got a shot in 2022 with Washington but he was injured after 6 games and then couldn’t get his job back after he was healthy. Washington paid a hefty price to get him from the Colts.

He lost his job to Taylor Heinicke after breaking a finger in a win over the Bears at Soldier Field in mid-October. The Commanders, who were 2-4 under Wentz, went 4-1 under Heinicke, who remained the starter after Wentz was healthy.

As long as they didn’t give him much, it’s a good signing.

I love it… this dude was legit early in his career… injuries derailed him a bit, I believe…. But hell yeah, love this move.

Frazod 04-01-2024 11:57 PM

Thank God. The idea of Gabbert stepping onto the field in a meaningful game terrified me.

It looks like the Rams only paid him the minimum, so probably he turned us down thinking he'd get a better offer, we signed Gabbert instead, and the better offer never came.

Carson Wentz led the NFL in QBR in 2017. He's 20th among active NFL QBs in passer rating. He had a 27 TD to 7 INT ratio in his last full season as a starter in 2021.

Is he the best backup QB this franchise has had since Rich Gannon?

Rasputin 04-02-2024 01:43 AM

our backup is better than 1/3 of starting quarterbacks in the league.

Yes.

And this type of move is one we should have been looking to make the last 5 years. We should always be looking for a b/u QB that's capable of winning 50% of the games they start.

That's the b/u QB's job -- just keep things floating until the boss gets back. You don't have to win anything but just don't lose it.
