I'll take questions that answer themselves for $400.

BWillie 03-15-2009 05:36 PM

Kinda sucks that neither KU or Missouri get to play in KC, but yet Oklahoma does, who KU and MU both beat head to head. KU won conference, MU won the tournament. Oklahoma failed in both. Hilarious.

I just love how ESPN lists KU as Big 12 at large. WTF? How about Big 12 Champion?

I agree with that. Which is why I'm all for eliminating an at-large bid. The winner is going to come out of the top 10-12 teams, at best, usually. And I think the play-in game is stupid. Bring it back to 64, put everyone in the "real" tournament, reward those teams who won the little conferences with an extra game. And then every year or two one of those teams makes a run and everybody gets excited about the underdog.

That's far more interesting than letting in Penn State or Arizona, somebody who rigged their non-conference with all home games or weak sisters, then barely stayed afloat in a weak conference.

I hope it comes down to MU vs. UW

That's ridiculous. A regular season record is much more important than winning a 4 day tourney, dufus. Seems back asswards to me.

ROYC75 03-15-2009 05:42 PM

There is so muck parity anymore, it's getting to the point where anybody can kick ya in the nuts.

The day is coming when a # 1 goes down on the 1st night. Not this year, but it is coming.

I don't think so... Louisville has the weakest #2, IMO, and UNC has #3 Syracuse while Louisville has #3 Kansas. Louisville probably has the tougher #4 and #6.

I'd like to see Hansflop go up against Blair and Pitt. LMAO

Well, that is the nomenclature that they prefer. A regular season championship means nothing to the selection committee - other than the wins you racked up while winning it. If a mid-major or low-major wins their conference championship but does not win the conference tournament, they may be left out of the NCAA tournament, not the other way around. Therefore, KU and OU are at-large, and MU is the Big XII automatic bid.

I said Sweet 16 all season, WVU will be a very tough challenge for KU to get there. Winning and getting a rematch with Michigan State would be tough. At least we know something of them, WVU we do not.

At large just means the team didn't get an automatic bid. Only the Big 12 Tournament champion is an automatic bid right?

MU's basketball team finally won a Big 12 Championship. Makes me feel goooood.

DJay23 03-15-2009 06:06 PM

North Dakota State scares me. We better come out balls to the wall on Friday. Let the fans look ahead in the bracket, the team needs to take care of business.

As for West Virginia, I say bring them the **** on. I'm tired of watching KU come make a soft showing against the weaker teams, and then look like a wrecking ball against the tough ones. I think KU will bring it to a team perceived to be a huge challenge for them.

DrRyan 03-15-2009 06:10 PM

At my first glance of the bracket, it sure looks as though UNC got the easiest draw of the #1 seeds. They are going to have to do more than just show up and throw their jerseys on the court the first two rounds, but probably not much more than that(provided Lawson is 100%). Basically two home games against inferior 8/9 seeds in round two. Pitt's draw against either Oklahoma St. or Tennessee round two appears a more difficult draw. UNC's first real test IMO will be the game to go to the final four. Granted, every team is giving it their all in the big dance and their games may be more of a challenge than I see them, but I doubt it. Midwest and West appear to be the toughest draws IMO.

I'm telling ya, North Dakota State is pretty good. A 45% 3 point shooting team, just the kind of teams we have trouble with. Plus they are the Bisons ........ There's the B for the rivals. Plus Minneapolis is not far away from NDSU campus.

Yeah, one reason I see EE potential is that the potential games versus WVU and MSU could be played with a huge chip on their shoulder... they obviously have to take care of NDS first and hopefully know by now they can't take any team for granted, but I think a lot of people would be picking WVU, and they already lost to MSU once.

As far as Kansas falling asleep or not showing up, I'd be much more worried about playing Dayton or USC (or NDS). I'm excited to see what they could do against WVU, knowing that it's going to be a really tough game.

41%, and it doesn't look like anyone on their team takes a ton of them.... but you're right, it could be a bad day if they got hot from 3.
