Anyone see what happened to Berkman?
|
Aggravated his calf injury; listed as day to day.
I'd expect a DL stint, personally. Carpenter's presently hitting well and we can afford to lose Berkman for a bit to ensure he's completely healthy. On a side note, Tyler Greene sucks at absolutely everything. |
DJ, what can you tell me about Wong? I know you mentioned him the other night on here.
Yeah probably DL for Berkman. Might as well for now. |
Well, just busted that one open.
Good atbat from Jaime. |
Jaime fouled off what 6 pitches there? Nice work helping his own cause.

At his best he should be a guy that gets talked about as a GG contender, but probably won't win one. Maybe a .310-.320 with 15 HRs and maybe 20 stolen bases. Think of him as being a slightly more consistent version of Jon Jay as a hitter with a Tommy Herr style glove. Or hell, just call him Tommy Herr with more power. He should be a fast riser; I'd expect him to man the pivot by the end of the 2014 season at the latest; perhaps even by mid 2013 if Descalso's bat doesn't come around and Wong hits his way into the picture in AAA. |
That sounds good.
We need to do something up the middle. Furcal ain't getting any younger, and while I like Descalso, I think he's ultimately a utility guy. |
On a positive note, **** this team can hit.
|
This years team is head and shoulders better than it was a year ago at this time. The intire lineup can hit, the bullpen is an actual strength and the starting pitching has been very good.
Waino gets the ball tomorrow and will shut down the reds again and then the Pirates and cubs. This team could have a 7 - 10 game lead in the NL Central in another week. |

Another win.
Lynn threw the ball well. Again. Although some tough news, Berkmann had to go onto the DL. Hopefully its just a 15 dayer. We need Craig to get healthy soon. |
Hard to believe that Wainwright has been tagged with three of our four losses. I'm sure he'll come around, though.
It would also be nice if he could get a little run support. |

OMFG Holliday just go away please.

Holliday is what he is, he will end up hitting a non-clutch .300/20/102. |

I still dont get the Holliday hate.

i personally don't have it. sec |

Beltran hit in to a double play with the bases loaded he is so not clutch get rid of him
|
I might be open to the argument that certain people do respond negatively to pressure (e.g. Roberto Luongo would probably make a great case study in this) but the belief that certain players are "good in the clutch" is just silly to me because it requires the belief that they need stress to be at their best essentially.
|
before i go back to my Holliday sarcasm I would like to point out how great Furcal has been
|
We should trade Beltran before he kills any value he has, so not clutch
|
Freese with a base hit, scores two.
Really hope he can stay healthy for the long haul. |

Heh, K-Mac actually gets through a frame clean.

It's not going to happen, but a nice run of .285 seasons with 20-25 HRs and an .820 OPS would be pretty damn sweet. |

In case you didn't know, the way they structured the contract, Pujols is making less this year than he did last year with the Cardinals. |

Thats a BS loss. Those cubs suck. they have no business winning that ball game. I think they took it for granted that they didn't have to being their "A" games to win.
|
I like Motte but damn he has got to learn a different pitch besides that fastball.
|
Quote:
I actually didn't know that (about his contract). Ever since that Mets game at the end of last season, when Motte approaches the mound, I immediately become anxious. |

Man, that Matt Holliday is so clutch. LMAO
Lifelong Cubs fans are denouncing them as their favorite team on my facebook news feed. LMAO One of them just proclaimed himself as a "new Washington Nationals" fan. |
:doh!:

Did Wainwright **** somebody's wife or something? God I'm sick of them crapping all over his starts.

WOW 2 really bad calls by the umps tonight.

Damn Greene WTF
|
Yeah, we got hosed, but frankly if you can't score more than two runs against the goddamn Cubs you deserve to lose.

I'm so ****ing pissed at that blown callin the 10th. Matheny should have ripped that umps heart from his chest.
|
The umps suck.
Tyler Greene sucks worse. He may be the least reliable infielder I've ever seen, up to and including Ryan Theriot. And if it's an important AB you can bet your ass he's going to strike out hacking. He serves absolutely no purpose on this roster. |
I did get a good laugh at Garza and Samardzija celebrating Matheny getting tossed though. It was the kind of class you can expect from Cubs.

On a positive note, Waino looked good and Holliday came through in a clutch situation. |

I didn't get to watch the game, too much shit recording, but I saw a clip of the home plate call. It was a bad call, but Yadier never tagged him either. DeJesus knew he didn't touch the plate and while Yadier was flipping out DeJesus touched the plate, so... |
Runners on 2nd and 3rd, two outs, Holliday..... grounds out to the pitcher.
Holliday being Holliday. I'm starting to hate this **** the way I hated Elway. |
FREESEN!!!
|
Finally, some runs.
Wrapped around another Holliday out, of course. |
Lynn's a little off today, too. Thank God he's opposite Volstad.
|
I was kicking around the idea of going to this game, but I was out sick on Monday so I didn't. Crappy weather today as well. Although I would have enjoyed booing Holliday.
|
Freese delivers again! Lead now 5-1 in the bottom of the 8th.
|
A couple of quick observations:
1)K-Mac seems to have come around. 2) Why oh why throw anything but a breaking ball to Soriano or LaHair? |

Hell, Holliday got two hits in ONE INNING. He normally doesn't get two hits in a week. |
Hope they saved some offense for the rest of the weekend.
