Alex Smith passing + rushing combined...207.7 yards per game (193.1 passing, 14.6 rushing)
Colin Kaepernick passing +rushing combined...318 yards per game (259 passing, 59 rushing) That's the difference between a game manager and a franchise quarterback. |

Hypothetically, wouldn't it be more demeaning to be raped in terms of understanding football by a high school student/someone who lives with their mother?
|
I mean, you're probably what, in your mid/late 40s? Maybe played HS ball but didn't start?
So, I guess you should be envious of a HSer/person who lives with their mother if they're destroying you in terms of simple, basic reads that every quality HS in the country teaches. FFS, when you get to college (real colleges) it is assumed you know that progression on Smash concepts. Crazy, I know. |

As everybody knows, there was enough talent on this team last season to win at least 7 games but without a HC that understands both sides of the game combined with a turnover machine at QB all that talent went to waste. Good news is, the talent is still there for the new HC to use. I'm optimistic. |
Quote:
First off, the Chiefs believe they've acquired the best possible QB available in 2013. It's hard to argue that fact when the guy has been successful the past two seasons, there was no one available in free agency that could even match his record and there's no one in the draft that is an immediately game changer. The fact that the Chiefs haven't drafted a first round QB since 1983 is of absolutely no concern to Andy Reid and John Dorsey. They were hired to perform their jobs to the best of their ability, not to carelessly draft a position player because it hadn't been done in 30 years. |
Quote:
I'm not getting excited for something I don't believe is going be anything to be excited about. I'm not setting myself up for disapointment. They all ready disapointed me with the trade and very disapoint we will draft a LTRT with our top pick. |

You cannot "prove" that Jeno Smythe will become an immediate franchise QB. Period. End of story. TattooBoy wants the Chiefs front office to "prove to the fans" that they're committed to winning, NOW, as if the past 42 years of a mostly losing franchise is somehow insignificant. Do you understand the diff? Capice? |

When looking for a QB you need to ask yourself if the player is capable of leading a team to the SB. If he isn't, there is no reason to spend anything on acquiring him unless he's a backup. Reid and Dorsey's job should be to win a Super Bowl. If they don't feel that there is a QB available in 2013 who can win a SB, that's an acceptable decision, but by committing to Alex Smith and constructing the rest of the team in the style they have, they've essentially said that there is no QB worth it in 2014 and possibly 2015. It's a classic example of not being able to see the forest for the trees. It will make the team better in 2013, but that's the equivalent of taking out a cash advance on a credit card to pay your mortgage every month. I happen to think that Geno Smith can win a Super Bowl, but I understand that such a belief is not a consensus, so passing on him, although a poor decision in my mind, is defensible. What isn't defensible is picking up a QB that I believe almost no one thinks can win a Super Bowl, because it makes acquiring a truly elite one more difficult. |
Aye, now THERE's some logic.

I could get slightly excited/interested/hopeful whatever you want to call it if we rolled the dice on a 2nd round QB this year (after moving back). We're not even going to do that. It's at least 3 years of Alex Smith from here on out, and I doubt they pick anyone high in an effort to replace him during that three years. Alex Smith = the death of Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe. |

The Super Bowl is a pipe dream. A winning season, a playoff win - well maybe THEN the Chiefs can talk about a Super Bowl. |
1) Do you believe that QB is the most important position
If number one is yes: 2) Does Alex Smith help or harm our long term prospects of getting an Elite QB if number 1 is no: **** off **** |

The Chiefs are not in a position to just say "Super Bowl or Bust". They've lost the trust of the fans, the fans that fill the stadium, and if HUGE changes weren't made, they were looking at not only an empty stadium but blackouts. This situation isn't just any simple ordinary situation. This franchise has basically been a gigantic cluster**** since 1971. Sure, the Marty years were "nice" but anything since then has been an illusion. They're back to Square One, which is to try to put a team on the field that isn't embarrassing to the fans or the city. It sucks but it is what it is. |
Quote:
Everyone realizes that it will take multiple years for this team to contend because there are holes on the roster that can't be fixed by 2nd and 3rd tier FAs. We should be laying the foundation for the future of the team now, and that foundation comes from drafting and developing a QB. As he develops, you fill the holes. Once he's ready the team is as well. They are parallel growth lines. |
Quote:
They are betting their reputations and the fortunes of this team on the notion that the next two drafts don't have a franchise quarterback in them AT ALL. We have to have hope that there are 3 teams that want to move up for Geno and that they believe the Jaguars will take him at 2...otherwise, our pick doesn't hold much weight. |

I'm sorry, but that's a lot to ask of the average fan. It's why Royals Stadium is continually empty and it's a bad strategy for the Chiefs in 2013. |

I am much butthurt we traded for yet another retread QB that isn't going win us shit in the post season. Alex Smith will be lucky to even make it through 16 games as fragile as he is. |
Quote:
If you have a young QB and you hit, you gradually improve. Even in the years you don't win a SB you are almost always competitive. That removes the embarrassment factor. Look at the Colts with Manning, the Patriots with Brady, Packers with Rodgers, and so on. The QB alone will make any team competitive if he's worth his salt. You don't have to hand out Daniel Snyder contracts; you can take a slow, measured approach and still improve markedly with a viable young signal caller: just like the Colts, Redskins, Seahawks, and Bengals have done. |
Quote:
If the Chiefs suck ass this year and draft in the Top Ten, it'll most likely be because of quarterback play. I hardly think that Reid and Dorsey feel that QB position is insignificant. |

NFL teams can completely turn around a franchise in just three, with immediate turnarounds noticeable in the first year. |
