He's still pissed about his benching with the 49ers and overall disrespect he receives in the media. He wants to prove people wrong about him. Although so did Cassel...

Pretty goddamned disappointing, actually.

I can add, when we went to River Falls back in the day - Tony Gonzalez was one of the all-time uber pricks when it came to signing autographs.

If Bray is cut and the Chiefs tried to put him on the PS, that means he didn't beat out Ricky Stanzi.

Any team that needs a QB desperately enough to pick up a guy that couldn't beat out Stanzi and place him on their 53 man roster, should have drafted 2 QBs in last years draft, 'cause it was a priority.

I see your point. And I agree, IF those are the only circumstances. We all know, though, that at the final cutdown teams will do some crazy things to get numbers at a particular position, and it's been more common the past few years, to try and roll with only two QBs. If it came to that, it's a gamble (assuming Bray is any good, which I don't stipulate, at all).

Can't be worse than Len Dawson a few years ago.
Standing next to the fence during practice, a kid asks for an autograph, and he turns around and snidely says, "It may not look like it, kid, but I'm actually working."

Now, I understand he was doing his "job." And I understand how easily one autograph could turn into 20. But what a prick way to say that.

Yea, that particular group of fans was very high on him before that happened. After it happened, I was like, "what do you think now?" They all said, "we'll, he's a prick, but I still think he's the answer and he's gonna do great" I can't even make this shit up, I actually stood there and did an actual facepalm.

Bobby Bell was like that to me when I was a kid at a punt, pass and kick competition. I asked for his autograph and he said, "I don't do anything for free." I was a ****ing little kid. What did he want me to do? Write him a check?

And Lenny is real greedy with his sig. The only autographs I've heard him do are paid events more often than just a random signing here or there.

A bunch of people and I saw him in Arrowhead in the lobby way before the game a few years ago (the MNF game on Halloween night) and all he said was "have fun tonight." But it was in a you're not getting my autograph ****ers I know y'all want it way lol. Nobody was around and it would've taken 5 minutes tops to sign stuff.

BradBigglestein 07-25-2013 03:10 PM

If Alex Smith is neglecting fans and word starts to get out and become more widespread, don't be surprised if Andy Reid has a talk with him about it. Andy Reid is very big about his teams projecting a good image, and likes his teams to have a great relationship with the fans during camp.

I have a pretty cool autograph story. Back when I was a teenager I went with my friend who was a HUGE Cowboys fan to Cowboys training camp. This was the year before they started winning Super Bowls in the '90s. Most of them already acted like they had won multiple Super Bowls and very few signed autographs. Aikman signed a few. Smith and Irvin couldn't be bothered. I've been a Cowboy hater ever since.

However, the Raiders were in town for a scrimmage and they couldn't have been nicer. Every Raider player I approached signed for me and I was wearing my Chiefs gear. Howie Long was a dick to my friend, but he still signed for us.

Oh yeah. When I was in high school my uncle and two little cousins (8 years oldish) went to River Falls. It was after Tony's breakout year. Somehow he had timed it just right so there weren't any fans around when he was walking to the facility except for my two cousins and me. I understood that he probably wouldn't want to sign my stuff, so I just walked up and said, "Hey Tony, would it be okay if you signed a hat or two?"

He ignored me and kept walking.

My cousin then called out, "Mr. Gonzalez, could we have your autograph?"

Tony stops, grumbles, and goes, "Yeah, make it quick though. Which hat am I signing?"

My two cousins both gave their hat to him. "Which one, dudes? I'm only doing one." They just looked at each other. One of them thought he was joking around, so he said, "How about both?"

"Nuh-uh. You guys got 5 seconds to pick or I'm outta here." I looked at him and he was totally serious.

I started asking the older brother if he would be cool with letting his younger sibling have the autograph, but before he could say anything, Tony just goes, "Screw it. I'll do both. You guys are taking too long." He scribbled out a signature on each hat, shoved them at me and walked off. I told my cousins to say thank you, which they did, but I didn't even get a "Yep" in response.

You don't have to sign autographs, but it should be kind of an expectation that you be polite(ish) to fans. I know we all have bad days and if you're getting nothing but autograph requests it can get frustrating, but holy shit. What a ****ing bitch.

It is readily apparent from this post that you have no idea how the waiver wire/practice squad designation works.

And I won't even call you a dumbass for it.

When a player is released he goes through waivers. If a team picks him up off of waivers, that team MUST add him to the 53 man roster. THEY CANNOT PUT THAT PLAYER ON THEIR PRACTICE SQUAD.

All practice squad players on every team must clear waivers first.

If that player clears waivers, then he is free to sign with anyone and those teams CAN place him on their practice squad.

Now I ask you, why would a team pass on Bray for 7 rounds, see him get cut by a QB-hungry team and pick him up off waivers and place him on their 53-man roster? Because they all of a sudden see him with amazing potential?

Bullshit. Won't happen.

If Bray were to be cut and he did clear waivers, why would he sign to another team's pratice squad when he chose the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie and went through an entire offseason with them?

I agree that it is entirely likely Bray will make the final roster, but if KC wanted to put him on the practice squad, it'll be likely because he didn't do much in the preseason and thus no team would pick him off waivers.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

i
****ing
know

Your entire argument is that:

A) A player only goes onto the practice squad if he were not good enough to be on the roster.
B) 31 other teams trust the evaluation of every other team "If he's not good enough for them, he's not good enough for us!"

By your rational, no player has ever been claimed off waivers and signed from someone's practice squad. It's a ****ing ridiculous argument. You're wrong. Accept it and move on.

I don't think anybody said that. Lots of people (like me) liked him coming out of college, so we said, "Eh, why the **** not."

I affectionately gave him the nickname Tardy Mardy, so I'm kind of pissed I won't get to use it, but I'm sure as hell not surprised.

I'm stupid?

You guys are essentially saying that a QB, that was passed on in the draft, and you HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN PLAY YET is so talented that there is no way teams would pass on him if the QB needy Chiefs cut him.

You'd think by how you guys are talking about Bray is that he is like the next coming of John Elway, when he is probably closer to Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell.

This fan base deserves to be duped every year because they are a whole lot of stupid if they have that high of an opinion of Bray before anyone sees him take one professional snap. What happened to the Show Me State?

Dude, you realize TYLER THIGPEN was picked up off the practice squad? Yes, a team would definitely pick up Bray if we tried to put him on the practice squad.

Holy Christ. We agree, your logic makes sense.

What you fail to understand, is that it happens EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. WITH. WORSE. PLAYERS. THAN. BRAY.

If we cut him, he will be picked up by another team before making it to our practice squad. Not saying its logical, not saying it is right, just saying that it would happen, or at least saying that there is a high potential for it to happen.

And you are 100% convinced that it wouldn't. Just look at:

Jeff Saturday:
Quote:

Center Jeff Saturday is best-known for his time with the Indianapolis Colts, but he was actually brought into the league by the Baltimore Ravens, who picked up the undrafted player in 1998.

They cut him before the season started, though, and he then wound up being signed by the Colts in 1999, where he began starting at left guard in November of that same year. He then moved to the starting center position in 2000.

Saturday was part of a Colts offensive line that gave up the fewest sacks in the league in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He is a six-time Pro Bowler, a two-time first-team All-Pro, and boasts a Super Bowl victory.

After 12 seasons with the Colts, Saturday played for the Green Bay Packers in 2012 before retiring from the game. He's appeared in 211 total games with 202 career starts.
Rod Smith:
Quote:

Missouri Southern wide receiver Rod Smith was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent in 1994, but he was quickly released and then picked up by the Denver Broncos, where he played out a stellar, 10-season career.

Smith started 158 games for the Broncos, catching 849 passes for 11,389 yards and 68 touchdowns over the course of his career—all of which are NFL records for undrafted players as well as being Denver Broncos franchise records.

For his efforts, Smith reached the Pro Bowl three times (2000, 2001 and 2005), was an All-Pro twice (2000 and 2001) and has two Super Bowl rings to his name.
Willie Brown:
Quote:

Cornerback Willie Brown was initially picked up as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Oilers in 1963, but he was cut during training camp and was then signed by the then-AFL Denver Broncos later that year. He became a starter during his rookie year, and in his second season there, he notched nine interceptions, earning him a spot in the AFL's All-Star Game.

In 1967, Brown was traded to the Oakland Raiders, where he played out the rest of his career, eventually retiring after the 1978 season. He has a career total of 54 interceptions for 472 yards and two touchdowns. He appeared in five AFC All-Star Games and four Pro Bowls, and he returned an interception for a 75-yard touchdown in Super Bowl XI, which the Raiders won.

Brown was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984.

You do realize he had a2nd or 3rd round grade right? the only reason he fell out of the draft was personality issues. In college he was better than 2qbs on our roster and he played in the sec. If cut, he will not clear waivers.

Tyler "effing" Thigpen is awful. That is our point. He is awful, and he was picked up after being cut.

He is worse than Bray. And it happened to him. So it could happen to Bray.

OK, I'm back...

IF Tyler Bray gets cut by the Chiefs (which I doubt he will), it is not a closed case he will get claimed on waivers.

I just see that 32 teams saw fit not to draft him (seven times) so there is a higher probability that I'm right in saying they don't want him.

The Jags wanted him, so why wouldn't they grab him if he became available?

Tyler Bray.

Most popular acquisition of the offseason.

Fan favorite.

There were 3-4 teams that tried to sign him, and he chose KC because he felt it was the best fit for him. He'd definitely be claimed if not put on the active 53.

I'm late to the convo but all autographs should die in a car crash ASAP. They're ****ing pointless.

End of story.

That would be alright.

We are first in the waiver order, so we would get him if we claimed him.

mcaj22 07-25-2013 08:59 PM

yea he would be great depth/insurance policy for many different scenarios.

One of the people in the group said "hey Alex, how bout a picture with my son?" Alex very rudely said "oh, alright, but make it quick!" And then proceeded without signing anymore autographs. What a prick!!

Prediction; by the end of camp, Bray will be the #2.

BossChief 07-25-2013 09:27 PM

These guys are on tight schedules. He may have needed to get somewhere. He did the photo and saying that he needed to hurry doesn't nessesary make him a jerk.

If that makes Alex Smith a bad guy, Tony Gonzalez (almost never signed for anyone) is the Devil and Larry Johnson (signed after almost every practice) is the virgin Mary.

O.city 07-25-2013 09:29 PM

Don't really give a shit. Win games. Be an asshole, don't really care.

Demetrius Harris, if he has a good TC, will get Moeaki cut.

RealSNR 07-25-2013 09:32 PM

Hope it's Schofield as well, but I'm imagining that it's preparation for Eric Fisher.

I find it ****ing hilarious that our safe pick blue collar get shit done meat and potatoes RT that we drafted at #1 overall is going to miss the first full team practice of training camp in an age of the NFL when rookie contracts are slotted.

No, the point isn't that it's not a big deal. The point is that it's completely unnecessary and spits in the face of everything that dumb****s who loved this pick talk about in terms of only ever worrying about getting a pick right when it comes to the NFL draft instead of hitting the home run.

Geno Smith is already kicking ass with the Jets because he got his contract done. Lick my nutsack.

O.city 07-25-2013 09:43 PM

I bet he's signed by 3;30 tomorrow.

THIS year! That's why it's a bold prediction. Look, we all know Danielssssss isn't even worth the ****ing airline ticket that brought him here. I guarantee you; that boy ain't impressing NO ONE in this camp except some MU fans in the stands.

Geno is kicking ass? Is that before or after he can't figure out how to get the correct play call in the huddle?

Dexter McCluster

O.city 07-25-2013 09:55 PM

I think Baldwin could be one. Moeaki is obvious.

mcaj22 07-25-2013 09:55 PM

Anthony Fasano is very interesting to me

how did the guy stay productive in the NFL. was he even that productive in college

like when you look at him you dont think productive NFL player, but he is about as a consistent of a TE as you will find on paper. But he doesnt wow you, he just works, not big not strong not fast just a throwback TE that you would pass by on the street and not know anything of it.
