It's funny that Knowmo keeps pimping Manning's drive to give the lead in the Ravens game, but refuses to talk about how Manning threw the terrible INT in OT that virtually sealed the game.

It took a couple fluke return TDs for you guys to have the lead in the first place.

Aside from the obvious pick 6 and OT INT, Peyton had a chance to convert a 3rd down late in the game and checked to a run. You think Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, or Tom Brady would have done the same?

He didn't check to a run. Coach Fox told them to run the ball to keep the clock moving. Fox has since came out and said that was one call he wished he could have back.

Fox said then that he stood by a decision to call a running play on third-and-7 at the Broncos' 47 and then punt the ball away with 1:15 remaining. He has a different opinion now, however.

"That's the one that gnaws at me. We get the first down there, and Baltimore can't stop the clock again, and the game's over," Fox told the newspaper.

Fox was playing the percentages...
Quote:

Fox said he played the percentages on all the calls—nothing more, nothing less.

According to his calculations:

—There's a 38 to 40 percent chance of converting a third-and-7 into a first down.

—By punting and giving Baltimore the ball on its 23-yard line, trailing by a touchdown with 1:09 left and no timeouts, the Broncos had a 97 percent chance of winning.

—That percentage spiked to 99.9 percent when the Ravens had the ball on the 30 with 41 seconds left.

Turned out, the Broncos are a ".1 percenter."

"I mean this in all sincerity, if I felt like we were going to give up a 70-yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds to go, we might have re-evaluated that," Fox said. "But that's not what the percentages said."

So you think the HC of an NFL team would have zero input on how he wants his team to close out a game? You also must think that the HC has zero input on two point conversions, whether to go for it on 4th down or if his team will attempt an onside kick.

The HC makes all of those decisions, ESPECIALLY in a playoff game. If you think otherwise maybe you are the idiot.

I don't think a defensive minded head coach is over there calling plays.

Onside kicks, two point conversions aren't the same as an offensive play call.

I don't expect you to get the difference.

It was his call. Every crucial decision is made by the HC. That is why they are the HC. Why is Marty, a defensive minded HC, known for conservative offensive play? Because he decides how his offense will play, not the coordinator.

Come on man, you have watched enough football to know this. Fox told McCoy how he wanted that drive to go and then told McCoy that he wanted him to take a knee to send the game into OT. The HC makes those decisions.

You're just digging yourself into a hole here.

It's basic football strategy, if you have a 7 point lead with 2 minutes to go you milk as much of the clock as you can by running the football. You hope you can get a first down, but if you don't, at least the other team will have used all of their timeouts. If we had a one or two point lead maybe Fox would have wanted to be more aggressive, but with a 7 point lead that is a smart way to close out a game.

John Fox is today's version of Chuck Knox, Marty Schottenheimer, John Robinson and so on.

He's just good enough to break your heart each and every year.

The fact that John Fox let run plays happen 3x in a row is a testament to his stupidity.

You have Peyton ****ing Manning who has been elite throwing the ball all year.

That is worse than anything Marty ever did because Marty never had a QB anywhere near Peyton Manning's talent level.
