@MikePereira My thoughts..Since the flag was thrown they should have stayed with the call. There was clear contact before the ball was intercepted. More.

@MikePereira You could make a case that the pass might have been uncatachable, but the flag was thrown and you should stay with it. My thoughts

I was curious so I decided to look at the schedules of the top 5 seeds and see what their records will probably be at the end of the season. I don't give a crap about the 6th seed because they'll be terrible regardless.

1. Denver (13-3)
2 New England (13-3)
3. Indianapolis (11-5)
4. Cincinnati (10-6)
5. Kansas City (12-4)

The Chiefs COULD go 14-2, but it's just hard for me to imagine that with how bad our offense is. If there's any good news, we probably beat the Bengals in the 1st round.

We win two more and 9 of the 16 AFC teams can't catch us. Only Miami and the Jets possibly could if they won out.

And if we win this weekend and the Jets lose, we'd clinch the conference tiebreaker over them... I'm not sure they could catch us.

dannybcaitlyn 11-18-2013 11:21 PM

It would have been interesting who would have won the last play at the 1 yrd line if the penalty stood up.

tk13 11-18-2013 11:23 PM

Also if we win this week, San Diego can't catch us either. Such a weird situation, because San Diego is the 13 seed and still just 1 game out.

So really, if we win and the Jets lose:

We'd have to lose all of our following games.

The Jets would have to win out after this week.

Oakland can't lose another game, period.

That would knock us out. The Jets and Oakland would most likely be the WC teams. I think that's right. Either way we're really close.

They needed 1 win and lost a ridiculous amount of games in a row.

tk13 11-18-2013 11:37 PM

Yeah actually I thought the Dolphins and Jets had one game left against each other... they have two. So that could hurt them. Nobody left has a real favorable schedule. I wonder if it'll only take 8 wins to get the final seed. What an ugly playoff race. 7 teams all .500 or below fighting for one spot basically.

Honestly the most favorable schedule left might be Buffalo. And they are the 14 seed. They only have 5 games left after a bye this week. Atlanta/Tampa/Miami/JAX and then the last week against New England, who may be resting people. They run that to get to 9-7, they could get in.

ClevelandBronco 11-18-2013 11:38 PM

DaFace 11-18-2013 11:38 PM

cdcox's software gives the Chiefs a 99.9% chance of making the playoffs at this point. I know it had the Broncos at around 98% a few years back, but it would truly take an epic collapse for us not to make it in.

If we only win one game, we're all but guaranteed to be in (99.5%). Even if we lose EVERY SINGLE GAME from here on, we've still got an 83% chance of making it in.

Definitely true, but the most likely scenario is that we'll be #5 and going against either the Colts or Patriots at #4. Neither of those will be easy wins.

NFL Rule Book: Pass Interference
Quote:

The restriction for the passing team starts with the snap. The restriction on the defensive team starts when the ball leaves the passer’s hand. Both restrictions end when the ball is touched by anyone."

It is pass interference by either team when any player movement beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders the progress of an eligible player of such player’s opportunity to catch the ball.

Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver’s opportunity to make the catch.

(c) Grabbing a receiver’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass.

(d) Extending an arm across the body of a receiver thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, regardless of whether the defender is playing the ball.

(e) Cutting off the path of a receiver by making contact with him without playing the ball.

Exciting game there in the 4th quarter. Pretty tough non-call. I'm sure it's been debated on here quite a bit and I don't have time so I won't bother to get into it.

Mainly I did want to point out that whenever you think the refs all have the Patriots dicks so far down their throats they can't think straight, remember this play. Whether the call was the right one or not, the refs could EASILY have made the PI call, but picked up the flag instead, which unquestionably gave the Panthers the win. If the refs are the Patriots' butt-monkeys, they sure didn't show it.

Funny, he was markedly less emotional about the hold on Hali and it's possible affects on the game had Hali gotten to PM and crushed him. Even if not a blow to his ankles, one good hit that early on had "the potential" to affect the rest of the game, just like last night's questionable no-call. I don't care that the flag "had been thrown and was picked up", it has nothing to do with anything. Had it not been thrown (remembering the Manning Doctrine), would there had been any less crying from the talking heads? No!

Anyway, I just find it funny how homeristic these guys allow themselves to be exposed as. So it might have been a bad call, so what? **** off Chucky!

Did I mention there were holds on the Oline that were missed too (there are holds on every play that go uncalled - it's an NFL staple!), so the Pats need to STFU and deal with the WWNFL shafting them (as they use it as a marketing tool to drive up ratings for Sunday's matchup). LOL!

And, it's obvious that even if the DB's hands weren't gently wrapped around him, the other Panther was going to make the INT "irregardless" (LOL!!)...

Whoa I disagree completely with his tweet there. The refs should confer for a moment to discuss the call. Especially on a play like that, which decides the game basically. I don't think they should say "Welp, we threw the flag so too late". Refs are human and can be too quick to judge. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to quickly overturn their call. I'm not saying whether the call was right or wrong, but I think they handled it the right way.
