Nice change up by Strohm. It'd be nice if he could develop that pitch.

Demonpenz 08-28-2016 08:32 PM

Strohm is our flynn

bricks 08-28-2016 08:33 PM

If there is a team that can pull off a 20 game winning streak, it's the Royals

Great Expectations 08-28-2016 08:35 PM

Is his 88 mph slurve and 76 mph hook the same pitch at different speeds?

GloryDayz 08-28-2016 08:35 PM

Some of the hair on the ball caught the plate there!

duncan_idaho 08-28-2016 08:36 PM

This team is just nuts.

It's Fenway and there's a lot of time left in this game, but wining this series would be pretty huge.

Fairplay 08-28-2016 08:36 PM

Royals just stomped the Sox in the sixth my goodness

KevB 08-28-2016 08:36 PM

Strahm almost never puts the ball in the middle of the plate. All around the edges, but for strikes.

siberian khatru 08-28-2016 08:36 PM

Straaaaahm

I was all about the future back in late June.

Good grief, it's going to take a lot for me to doubt this organization's decisions and their best players in the future.

They look every bit like a World Series team again.

ChiTown 08-28-2016 08:39 PM

So, when Wade gets back, I would relegate Soria to an earlier inning guy and slide Strahm into the 7th inning role

Pretty sure it was from their win today. Not bad. Tied with 15 other teams for August 28th champs!!!

Might happen. Either way, it's going to make our bullpen brutal when Wade's back. If you have Moylan, Flynn and Soria to take you out in the 4-6 innings, that's pretty tough. I'm pretty sure the Cubs, Red Sox, or a couple other teams would take any of those three as their main setup man.

Tough to blame Strahm when it was in the strike zone.

C3HIEF3S 08-28-2016 08:52 PM

That walk is partly a product of Salvy not being even average at framing pitches.

Well, he did strike him out, but the ump is a ****ing douche and didn't call it that way.

tk13 08-28-2016 08:52 PM

Strahm's approaching 40 pitches... over about an hour of actual time. He might be out for a couple days after tonight.

ChiefsCountry 08-28-2016 08:53 PM

Hope the Red Sox go 13-0 against the Blue Jays and Orioles.

tk13 08-28-2016 08:54 PM

Yeah, I think we talked about this before. The Red Sox don't have hardly any home games in September. Whoever came up with their schedule shafted them.

Salvy saves his voodoo for the playoffs. Like in the 9th inning of Game 6 against the Jays.

C3HIEF3S 08-28-2016 08:55 PM

Strahm looks to be this year's 2014 Finnegan, except he's actually good and not falsely perceived as such.

siberian khatru 08-28-2016 08:55 PM

It worked out fine but not sure I like stretching Strahm out that far

Question for anyone who knows: how long does it take after a switch to the pen for an arm to not be "stretched out"? Strahm, for example, was throwing starter's innings until the end of June. So, is his arm still considered "stretched out", or no?

At this point I doubt they'd press the issue due to innings pitched. They haven't been pitching him back-to-back nights to save his arm. There was a KC Star article the other day saying they absolutely plan to give Strahm a shot at the rotation next year though.

Chiefspants 08-28-2016 09:00 PM

Reddit Royals fan is speculating that they may want Strahm as an option to spot start down the stretch.

Depends on what he is doing on the side.

Some guys in that situation may be given shorter side sessions to keep them stretched.

At this point, 40 pitches shouldn't be a big deal.

Really think he has nice separation on that changeup. It needs a little more fade to become a true swing and miss offering, but that's something you can develop over time.

Hopefully Strahm avoids celebrating his initial success like Finnegan did... And does something other than eat pizza and drink beer in the offseason.

And start openly criticizing the team that took him the World Series.

*** (In the event the 2016 Royals make it that far).

AJKCFAN 08-28-2016 09:05 PM

Moylan. Hmmmm

I'm guessing Yost is trying to steal the game without needing to use either Soria or Herrera.

Sure hope we can win this game without using either and they can be fresh tomorrow for a Gee start...

Yeah, it's not that he can't go 40, it's do you want to extend him that long now and with a six-run lead when you're keeping a close eye on his IP already.

Fairplay 08-28-2016 09:10 PM
