Some of you developmental guys answer this question.....why is Carlson still in Springfield not even playing in games?
Fowler is even out. That’s 3 open OF positions. He could pinch hit. Be a defensive Replacement. Play some in a double header. Which 3 OF players are doing so great that there is just no room for him to get any AB’s. He needs to learn how to hit MLB sliders and change ups, right? How does he learn down there with no games and no MLB pitching to practice against? What am I missing? |

Dylan Carlson’s first game back. 2-3 with a 3 run homer to break the game open late. :thumb:

This will be the first time in about 25 years that I will not watch a single baseball game.
3. Due to COVID 2. Due to my Pirates suck big fat donkey dick 1. I've lost interest since my Chief's got Mahomes and we won the Super Bowl! |

The Negro League uniforms the Cardinals are wearing are legit good.

What a shit-ass team. Imagine letting Brad Miller lead your team in home runs.

I hope they lose tomorrow.

Yay us,16th best team in MLB! All hail Mo! |
At least they won one playoff game. Thought they'd get smoked bad. Carlson batting 4th and looking good.

This year's playoff format is dumb as ****. Three game series are pointless.
|
4 teams in each league. 7 game series. Anything more than that is dumb luck.

Baseball will eventual expand to 32 and the 8 team playoff will be here to stay. My proposal is this for the Wild Card round. The 3 game series at 4 division winners (you know this coming when they go to 32). Division winner only has to win 1, wild card has to win 3. I think that would put some excitement and urgency in the wild card round, while making sure regular season is still important.
|
Great that we had a victory, let's keep it going. I was able to watch the Cardinals game last Friday across the street at the Bud Brewhouse. All-inclusive tickets, it felt great to watch a game again.
|
Well if we're here, might as well win the whole damn thing
|
Hate to complain in a 4-0 game, but Padres are getting calls here that the Cardinals aren’t.

Gallegos  good lord

Did I hear that right, they have no starting pitching left? It’s a bullpen game tomorrow, against Flaherty? How’s that possible after two games?
|
Mother****ers going to get blown out tomorrow too if they don’t start throwing strikes until it’s 2-0 and they’ve already walked the first batter.
|
I swear this team has won one and then lost the next game for like 2 straight months it seems

They've got like 3 dudes that would have hit 50 bombs in a 162 season...impressive.

Reminds me of the Manny/Thome Indians
|
Good lord....
|
Could have had Tatis, family and him wanted to go to the Cardinals but they wanted to save $50K? :shake: Sounds so Mo.
|
Thanks for being cheap on Tatis, Mo!! Fure that POS
|
God this game is awful.

Nah man we get treated to Carp whiffing on ball 4 instead of loading the bases.
|
Well...at least we didn't get swept by the Marlins.
But yeah, team goes 26-3 when scoring 4 or more runs in the regular season, 16-0 when scoring 6 or more and then steps on its dick in the post-season when it scores 9. Losing teams lose. And man, I don't know if this is a losing team, but it damn sure isn't a winning team. And having to burn Flaherty in this series means that any scant hopes we had of upsetting the Dodgers in a short series are likely shot as well. Who really cares? We're just marking time toward 2022 anyway in the hopes that Liberatore, Gorman, Herrera and maybe Torres are actual major league ballplayers. This Carpenter/Miller/Fowler era as a bridge w/ Yadi/WW just cannot end soon enough. |

DeWitt's the reason why Robert isn't STL currently, not Mo. |

The DeWitts selling the team solves the problem , not firing Mo/Girsch.
|
This is going to be one of those games where they get 2 hits against scrubs, isn’t it?

Bill DeWitt Jr. is on record as saying they didn't want to sign Robert because of what they'd have to pay him later on. I've discussed this with DJ before (and we disagreed), but Mo's Carl Peterson post-Marty currently in which ownership wants to be just good enough without having to rebuild. |
Strike zone is a joke again tonight. Cards are screwed.

Yet, that flaw is in the why Roberts and Tatis arn't on this team. Sure they worked out and there are probably 20 others that got that same money and didn't work out for the teams. Its a gamble. Dewitt wont put the big money in on the potential star baseball player. Just the ones who's ceiling is an average MLB player. |

Horrible swings by Fowler and Bader. 5 different pitchers in 5 innings. 3 lousy hits.
Glad We are seeing 2019 Flaherty to give us a chance. |
These teams are going to strand 100 runners

Damn, didn't know Hos could do something other than ground meekly to the right side

Going to be fitting when a scrub bullpen start by the Padres ends the Cards season with their ACE ON THE MOUND.
|
Facing a turd in the 6th. 14 walks in 17 innings and an era near 6...
|
So, Brad Miller lead this team in home runs and never even took an at bat in October?
|
Fowler really thought he had that ROFL

Losing because of the same BS we have seen all year, offense disappears way too much and too often. |

NLC getting swept out of the playoffs.

If we're being fair here the Padres areba bit early but there is no denying that talent level. The Cards hanging in is an accomplishment.

Fitting that a frustrating game like that ends with a strike out of the last 3 batters looking.
|
It's probably not the best though losing to a team that's missing it's top 2 starters.

He was my favorite player growing up.
