Some of you developmental guys answer this question.....why is Carlson still in Springfield not even playing in games?

Fowler is even out. That’s 3 open OF positions. He could pinch hit. Be a defensive Replacement. Play some in a double header. Which 3 OF players are doing so great that there is just no room for him to get any AB’s.

He needs to learn how to hit MLB sliders and change ups, right? How does he learn down there with no games and no MLB pitching to practice against?

What am I missing?

Dylan Carlson’s first game back. 2-3 with a 3 run homer to break the game open late. :thumb:

This will be the first time in about 25 years that I will not watch a single baseball game.

3. Due to COVID
2. Due to my Pirates suck big fat donkey dick
1. I've lost interest since my Chief's got Mahomes and we won the Super Bowl!

The Pirate fans deserve better. They stuck with the team through DECADES of bad baseball.

The Negro League uniforms the Cardinals are wearing are legit good.

They need to make that an annual thing. Cool uniforms on both sides and a great cause.

Why? This is a .500 team, were before the season, are now. They’re playing up to expectations of the poorly constructed roster.

We made the playoffs. Dewitt is already prepping an extension. :banghead:

Yay us,16th best team in MLB! All hail Mo!

At least they won one playoff game. Thought they'd get smoked bad. Carlson batting 4th and looking good.

With KK, Waino, and Flaherty, I figured they would actually beat the Padres, and have a chance against the Dodgers. Then nothing will change next year to improve a .500 team...

You would have to hate this format if your team is stacked. Any other Card playoff team and you would be feeling pretty good, but this lineup is pocket deuces going up against a flop of all paint...it isn't likely to last past the turn.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-01-2020 07:35 AM

This year's playoff format is dumb as ****. Three game series are pointless.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-01-2020 07:36 AM

4 teams in each league. 7 game series. Anything more than that is dumb luck.

This gives a bad Cardinal team. Which this is a complete dogshit team. It gives them a legit chance with the short series.

ChiefsCountry 10-01-2020 09:48 AM

Baseball will eventual expand to 32 and the 8 team playoff will be here to stay. My proposal is this for the Wild Card round. The 3 game series at 4 division winners (you know this coming when they go to 32). Division winner only has to win 1, wild card has to win 3. I think that would put some excitement and urgency in the wild card round, while making sure regular season is still important.

Marco Polo 10-01-2020 12:33 PM

Great that we had a victory, let's keep it going. I was able to watch the Cardinals game last Friday across the street at the Bud Brewhouse. All-inclusive tickets, it felt great to watch a game again.

George Liquor 10-01-2020 06:19 PM

Did I hear that right, they have no starting pitching left? It’s a bullpen game tomorrow, against Flaherty? How’s that possible after two games?

Mother****ers going to get blown out tomorrow too if they don’t start throwing strikes until it’s 2-0 and they’ve already walked the first batter.

Imagine Roberts and Tatis in this line up for what is chump change these days.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-02-2020 07:58 AM

Nah man we get treated to Carp whiffing on ball 4 instead of loading the bases.

DJ's left nut 10-02-2020 03:42 PM

Well...at least we didn't get swept by the Marlins.

But yeah, team goes 26-3 when scoring 4 or more runs in the regular season, 16-0 when scoring 6 or more and then steps on its dick in the post-season when it scores 9.

Losing teams lose. And man, I don't know if this is a losing team, but it damn sure isn't a winning team. And having to burn Flaherty in this series means that any scant hopes we had of upsetting the Dodgers in a short series are likely shot as well.

Who really cares? We're just marking time toward 2022 anyway in the hopes that Liberatore, Gorman, Herrera and maybe Torres are actual major league ballplayers.

This Carpenter/Miller/Fowler era as a bridge w/ Yadi/WW just cannot end soon enough.

How have the DeWitts spending pattern from 2015 onward make you believe they care about competing to go along with generating a profit?

Bill DeWitt Jr. is on record as saying they didn't want to sign Robert because of what they'd have to pay him later on.

I've discussed this with DJ before (and we disagreed), but Mo's Carl Peterson post-Marty currently in which ownership wants to be just good enough without having to rebuild.

Jewish Rabbi 10-02-2020 05:48 PM

I think most that post here agree that Dewitt's plan is to develop talent and sneak into the playoffs and hope the team gets hot in the playoffs like 2011.

Yet, that flaw is in the why Roberts and Tatis arn't on this team. Sure they worked out and there are probably 20 others that got that same money and didn't work out for the teams. Its a gamble. Dewitt wont put the big money in on the potential star baseball player. Just the ones who's ceiling is an average MLB player.

Not a chance in hell of the Dewitts selling the team. They are the baseball owner royalty. The only chance we have is to change their behavior. And the only way that happens is to get so bad with the fans, that they stay home and effect his bottom line. Soooo thats really a distraction. Fans arn't going to abandon this team in the stands in large numbers.

Mo can be fired for cause, His trades are for shit, His FA signings are for shit.

Horrible swings by Fowler and Bader. 5 different pitchers in 5 innings. 3 lousy hits.

Flaherty did his job. 6 innings of 1 run ball against that stacked lineup was a #1 starter performance.

Losing because of the same BS we have seen all year, offense disappears way too much and too often.
