(I'm swamped at work right now, so we'll just have former Vice President Walter Mondale come out and make the pick.)
https://media.wwltv.com/assets/CCT/i...9_1140x641.jpg The Minnesota Vikings select Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn. |
Through diplomatic channels, Mr. Mondale notifies the next picker.
And did we really not have an Auburn player drafted in the first three rounds? The times, they are a'changin'. |
The New England Patriots select Trey Sermon, RB, Ohio State.
Patriots thrilled to get a guy they had 2nd round grade here and #2 RB overall in the class. |

(Great Pick) (Though I don't buy that any team has him rated ahead of Harris or Etienne) |
Quote:
I have Sermon 2nd round and Etienne 4th round because I don't view Etienne as a 3 down back. He doesn't run great routes, poor vision, and mediocre hands. He might do damage in the right scheme but you need to call specialty plays to get him into space. |
Fair enough, I'd personally be surprised if Harris or Etienne fall lower than ~40, but I'm far from an expert evaluator. RBs can be so scheme / skill specific that they aren't a one player fits all solution. Completely in agreement that Sermon is very under rated.

The Las Vegas Raiders select, Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State
|
The New England Patriots select Seth Wiliams, WR, Auburn
Get a big bodied receiver that if he can show more consistency can become a #1 WR at the NFL level. Williams doesn't take no for an answer when he is looking for the ball. |
Staylor, can you message next? I'm on mobile and can't right now..

I see sending Staylor my picks for #126 to keep this moving was ambitious...
|
Well Direckshun was on this morning and didn’t make his pick. I’m going to give him an hour and then somebody like Franchise can pick for him....
|
Did he get sent a PM?

I’ve got a pick all ready to go. Just let me know when.

I’ll PM you my pick. That way you have it if I’m not on and you decide to use it.

The Washington Football Team selects Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M

Almost to the half way point (pick #129/130)

An easy chair is placed on the stage, along with a mission-style end table.
A glass of water is placed on the table. Another table is placed nearby, and a fern is placed atop it. |
Garrison Keillor enters the stage and sits down. He offers a 30-minute monologue on how the NFL draft is much like growing a garden. He follows up with another 30-minute monologue about how football in small Minnesota towns was where friendships were forged and how it developed pluck and persistence among those whose natural gifts were not athleticism.
https://mediad.publicbroadcasting.ne...on-keillor.jpg |
At this point everyone has dozed off, but one nodding sound technician recorded these words as Keillor was transitioning from a metaphor about tractors to an anecdote about seeing a moose while canoeing on a Minnesota lake.
"The Minnesota Vikings select Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia." |
Keillor sends a nice handwritten note on stationery paper to inform the next person that they're on the clock. Not one of those fancy digital clocks that has all of the functions, but a good cherry-burnished grandfather clock that sits by the stairs and stolidly chimes the passage of time.

Chargem sent me his pick
The Tennessee Titans select Milton Williams, DE/DT, Louisiana Tech |
The Indianapolis Colts select Cade Johnson, WR, SDST
|
There are so many guys still left that I would love for KC...
|
The Steelers are still pretty pissed at the Patriots for drafting Trey Sermon. The Steelers though they would be able to get him here given the plethora of RBs still left on the board whom are generally rated higher by media sources. But, the Steelers should have known better, the Patriots have elite scouts and saw the exact same value in Sermon that our organization did. Accepting the reality of the situation, before moving on, the Steelers make a note to send glitter bombs to MahomesMagic and Bill Belichick next Christmas.
The Steelers still need a RB and are quite please to see other great options still available at pick #128... The Pittsburgh Steelers select Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis |
PM has been sent to the Seahawks

MahomesMagic sent me his pick
The Seattle Seahawks select Elerson Smith, EDGE, Northern Iowa |
The Jacksonville Jaguars select Patrick Johnson, EDGE, Tulane

Well, I guess I’ll pick by Wednesday...

Somebody should just make the rest of his picks so we could ease his burden.
|
The New Orleans Saints select Robert Hainsey, G, Notre Dame
|
It's been 12 hours so figured I could pick
|
Staylor I messaged rain man, let me know if we need to wait longer
|
Usually the clock stops on the weekend, but since it’s chiefscafan and he apparently hasn’t been on in a couple days, I’ll just pick for him.
The Cleveland Browns select D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan |
Yes, technically staylor didn't put the draft on pause for Easter, but it was also only Friday when it was chiefscafan's turn to pick.
In any case, I've got a pick in case people want to keep this thing moving. |
I'm not trying to be a dick and understand real life happens. I am not mad at the guy at all was just trying to keep it moving

Or you two can split them. Whatever works. |
And I get that life is more important but sometimes you need to make a decision that you’re too busy to take on something no matter how much you like it.
|
Now supposedly I haven’t been giving chiefscafan time to make a pick.
Apparently it’s my fault that he made a pick and it “didn’t go through” then disappeared never popping back in to the thread or PMing me. Then I see he’s been on the clock for 12+ hours and hasn’t been on for a couple days so I made his pick for him. Listen guys, i know there’s no clock on the weekends, but if you screw up a couple times and I don’t hear from you after the last, then it’s your turn on a Saturday and you haven’t been one for more than a day, I’m going to assume we aren’t getting a pick from you anytime soon. |
I’m too busy and too much is more important than this right now in my life I’m sorry but that’s the truth . So blast me if you want but you have no idea what’s going on right now. Good luck rest of draft

In fact, somebody else went ahead and made a pick, so I just picked for you so you didn’t continue to get skipped over. I made it clear that there’s no clock for the weekend, but since I hadn’t heard from you since the last time you missed a pick, and you hadn’t been on for a couple days, I wasn’t going to hold everybody else up. Sorry, but it is what it is It’s all good though man. I really hope you don’t take this the wrong way and will be back to participate next year if you have the time. Hope all is well and I wish you luck. |

I think the challenge is that you are so busy (for good reasons) that you’re only able to log in every few days which can hold up the entire draft process. If we had to wait 24+ hours for each of your remaining picks, we won’t finish before the real draft happens. Doing the CP mock is an additional time suck for everyone involved (checking the board a couple times per day, spending time researching our teams and players who are fits, etc.). We all made that commitment eagerly, but the sooner we work through the entire draft the sooner we all get more time back. Perhaps a good alternative would be finding a board member you trust, sharing your phone number, and letting them text you when you are on the clock. Would that enable you to be aware that it’s your turn quicker, and thus respond in the morning or evening outside work hours within your 12 hour window? |
Yeah nobody is mad at you at all, like they've said real life comes before this. Always. You're all good, hope everything is getting better for you.
|
If you need somebody for the Browns and/or Bengals, I'll take one or both.
And chiefscafan, don't worry about it. You know we let shit fly fast and loose around here. Come back when you can. Hell, even if your real life stuff eases up in the next few days and you want your teams back, I don't see any reason why you can't finish out the draft (it's up to staylor, of course, but I don't think he'd have a problem with it at all). |

"And there were in the same division coaches abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the league came upon them, and the glory of the league shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not:" "For behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is drafted this day in the City of Twins a linebacker. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the backer wrapped in navy blue, wearing the number 11. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly coaches, praising football, and saying, 'Glory to ball in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward fans.'" He turns and says, "That's what the draft is all about, Roger Goodell. The Minnesota Vikings select Charles Snowden, LB, Virginia." |
A special courier is dispatched to inform the next team that they're on the clock.

The Green Bay Packers Select: Israel Mukuamu, CB, South Carolina
|
The Kansas City Chiefs select Cameron McGrone, LB, Michigan
There are A LOT of options that are intriguing here, but I’m sticking to my board and taking a guy that was in consideration for 94. Here’s your eventual replacement for Hitches in the middle. McGrone plays fast, and he’s explosive. He’d be a perfect fit next to Gay for the future. He’s great against the run. He hasn’t gotten a lot of work in coverage, but he has more upside than a guy like Hitchens ever had there with his athleticism. He’s also a fantastic blitzer, which Spags will no doubt take advantage of. Easy value pick at this spot. He reminds me a lot of Fred Warner... |
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Jaelon Darden, WR, North Texas
|
Feel like McGrone is slept on in this section, so just wanted to post this for those that aren’t familiar with him:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Cam McGrone (44, ILB) is the actual guy that people think Micah Parsons is. <a href="https://t.co/svVfvbLo2I">pic.twitter.com/svVfvbLo2I</a></p>— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) <a href="https://twitter.com/BrettKollmann/status/1374169999871340547?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 23, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
I like McGrone and think there is huge value where you got him in this mock. Most reputable mocks have him as a top 75 player. He’s got some position versatility, and I love his patience in the run game - he reads well and can run the alley while fighting through trash. Not sure he will be around in the third round or fourth for that matter when the Chiefs pick, but he and Browning are two guys I would love the Chiefs to nab at linebacker to shore up the group.
