There is a shit ton of nasty on that interior OL. I love those guys.

It doesn't mean we can't use Gore/Williams too. When a Defensive line really pinches down though, a bigger power back can still blow it up.

How big a back do you want? I mean it's not like 250 pound backs that run 4.5 grow on trees.

The size of the back has little to do with having a power running game; the line does.

We have two 220 lb. backs right now. That's plenty stout. we don't need a lumbering fat-ass.

Christian Okoye has an autographed 8x10 for you.

Chris Meck 11-02-2021 03:01 PM

You know what wears a defense down? Trey Smith pancacking mother****ers. Humphrey bullying your ass. Thuney just walling you out of the play. Orlando Brown coming downhill at you, all 340 pounds of him, all game long.

Not a lumbering 250 pound running back.

'power back' shmower back.

We can debate the need for a BETTER running back, but not that we need a BIGGER running back.

And at the moment, I like what we saw from Gore, Williams is dependable though unspectacular, and who knows if CEH will ever be the LSU CEH again.

But no, I don't think we need a larger than 220 pound RB.

Perfectly reasonable sentiments, of course

But imagine a world where we have this line, Reid is a run heavy guy... and we had someone like Henry back there

Thats a chub inducer in my book

Honestly, we need a Jamaal back there. I know he's one of a kind, but if we can find someone with elite balance of patience & acceleration, it would be game over.

We will be carving holes with this line for the next 5-10 years, and once we find this type of back, we will stunt on the league.

I'm talking about finding a RB with the whole "we can't let him get momentum" narrative that Tennessee has enjoyed with Henry, which requires that defenders sit close to the box. That's suicide against Mahomes/Hill.

That way its not about grinding out long drives with 10-15 plays with a powerback, but rather, scaring defenses to death with a homerun threat every time he has the ball.

so imagine basically BEING the Titans?

nah.

Henry's amazing at what he does, but he doesn't really catch, he doesn't pass block, and so doesn't fit a WCO.

If you want to pine for a fictional running back, I'd much rather have peak Jamaal. He actually fits this offense.

Aren't you pining for Jamaal Charles?

We are strongest right up the middle. What's wrong with getting a pounder that can crash right up the middle for 4-5 yards over and over again. Forcing the defense to bring an extra man or 2 into the box. Then Mahomes goes to work.

8 in the box, Mahomes destroys
6 in the box, Running game destroys

Just keep adding good football players. That's all that matters.

You just can't whiff high in the draft, it kills your roster.

IMO, due to Mahomes prior injuries Veach and Reid will pay the premium to keep an elite O-Line which includes IOL.

It's almost as if general CP opinion of him is influenced by whether or not the team is playing well, and people are incapable of analyzing decisions and roster moves in overall context. Obviously if the team is losing games, it will look like just about every investment that Veach has made is a failure. If the team is winning games (and y'know... playoff games) people are going to praise most of Veach's personnel moves.

Miracles, man.
