That's the difference between Indy and some other run-first teams. I think Wentz CAN beat them.

The problem is his pass-catchers. Hilton's a corpse at this point and Pittman's banged up. They just don't have many weapons for him. Doyle and Pascal just don't bring much to the table. Parris Campbell is hurt and I'm not convinced he's worth a shit anyway.

Indy just has to score more points than NE and with Kwity Paye, Odeyingbo, and Buckner plus the Colts linebackers Patriots will struggle to move the ball.

With Robinson and Godwin as likely FAs this off-season (potentially Adams as well, though unlikely - figure he's tagged), the Colts are a veteran WR and another talented rookie pass-catcher away from being pretty dangerous.

There's a lot of talent on that defense, the OL is outstanding, the RB situation is sorted out and if Wentz can just stay healthy he's an average QB. They can really grab that division by the throat.

I just think they're a year away still. They can be tough this year but not enough to win anything meaningful, IMO.

JolieMolie 12-08-2021 11:44 AM

Chiefs, please get the #1 seed and then beat the !^%*#! out of New England unless L.A., Buffalo, or (hopefully) Cincinnati does it first.

The issue for Indy is Wentz has 4-5 turnover worthy plays every game. The Patriots do not. Will be tough for Indy to win.

Bills beat NE next go around assuming NE has to pass in that game.

Chiefs win out its theirs, that's not so simple though. If they get past the Chargers then I have pretty great faith we beat Cinc, Pitt at home, Denver

Tua was outplayed by Mac Jones in week 1 despite Patriots losing 17-16. What cost the Patriots that game was 4 fumbles of which they lost 2.

Both teams have improved since then but Tua was contained in that game and Patriots defense has gotten better. Not saying Dolphins can't win but even though Tua has played well this year, I don't expect him to do that great against this Patriots defense if the game is meaningful to New England.

Even the Chiefs winning out only makes it a coin flip at this point. We'll need the Pats, Titans, and Ravens to all drop one (and the Pats only have four to play).

I'm late to the party, but I think you're ignoring that getting the bye (which the Pats are likely to do) roughly doubles your chances of winning the Super Bowl. That's why all the models have them so far ahead.

If we win out NE only has to lose one.

Covid makes these prediction models less reliable than they typically are. It could get very chaotic once these games with huge playoff implications are impacted by positive cases.

It’s gonna be injuries, and rightfully so. They’re decimated, and have had enormous amounts of luck to get to their current record. If their team had only half the injuries they currently do, they may still be clinging to the one seed.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-08-2021 06:11 PM

Earlier in the season, I predicted the Chiefs would most likely make the playoffs, because it doesn't matter how badly they play, it's still not going to be as bad as most of the league..... never saw this dumpster fire coming though.

8-4 isn't surprising, but being half a game out of the 1 seed certainly is.... we're currently hoping the offense will get their shit together, but didn't expect every other team in the AFC would be hoping the same thing about their own teams..... and maybe the only team that isn't is the ****ing Patriots.

smithandrew051 12-08-2021 06:22 PM

Like I’ve said before, Chiefs just need to focus on winning out. The rest will sort itself out.

If we don’t win out, we pretty much have no chance at the 1 seed.

Ravens will lose 2-3 more. Titans will lose at least one more (maybe 2).

Just leaves New England. I think they lose to the Colts. Their run defense is kinda so-so. Indy has arguably been the best rushing team in the league.

Umm, two of the four remaining games left for Pats are in a climate controlled stadium (Indy) and at Miami. The ‘weather turning’ won’t be a factor in either of those games.

And Miami seems to have the Pats number in late season games there, so I wouldn’t go counting those chickens just yet . . . . .

Like I said - Buffalo is the only team in the AFC, and maybe the Chargers, that worry me.

But the Chargers are likely to Charger it up. And Buffalo can simply lose their way at any given time. Josh Allen remains fairly erratic and in any given half he can just shoot them right out of a game.

We good.

Honestly, apart from potentially securing the 1 seed, the Raiders game barely matters.

If they lose Sunday the 1 seed's probably gone, but nothing else changes. Beat the Chargers and you'll win the West, IMO. And with it being a road game on a short week, I wouldn't mind them reallocating some practice time to the Chargers game this week at all.

They NEED to be the Chargers. If for no other reason than to smack little brother in the face and remind him of his place in the pecking order. You get swept by LAC and suddenly they believe in themselves. That would be no bueno.

Ughhhh, give me the cold over the heat any day. I might think differently if I lived on a coast somewhere, but for me with the cold I can always do things to warm up like dress in layers or move around. When it's hot there is not much I can do to relieve it. I could always go into the A/C, but that defeats the purpose of the heat.

No doubt - but it's almost like some around here don't even watch football.

This has been more of an "Any Given Sunday" season than I can remember. All this talk of running the table (for any team) is ridiculous.

The way this season has played out, and how out of sorts they've been - I'm just hoping they a) make the playoffs and b) are playing their best football when they get there.

That's the thing about Florida though, I couldn't do it because any sweat isn't even noticeable until I step inside into the relatively dry indoors, then I have to peel off clothes.

Fair points. To each their own. Don't get me wrong, while I prefer the cold, I would be miserable in Alaska. I didn't always hate the heat though. I think three tours in Iraq in full gear in melt you heat and one tour in equatorial Africa changed my mind on the heat.

Now I get it lol. Yeah, I’m sure that is some hot heat, especially adding in all the extra stuff you had to wear/carry. When I lived in MO, and the year I froze my ass off in MN, I worked in foundries. The one in St Louis was iron and steel, and that shit was hot. I worked in the melt and pour department, we ran the furnaces to melt the material, then poured it into molds. Most of the metal came out of the furnaces between 2700-3500 degrees. That shit was insanely hot. The one in MN was aluminum, still over 1000 degrees, but NOWHERE near as hot as that St Louis foundry.
