People gonna be big mad when he catches a 2-yard pass in the flat and turns it into a 20-yard gain.

Still has the vision and the power through contact, which was always what made him special. It's not like he ever ran like Chris Johnson to begin with.

I think he can give you the same type of thing you're hoping to get from Perine. Not a game-breaker, but the type of player who can help you chew up yardage consistently against light boxes and deep safeties.

Mosbonian 09-17-2024 05:02 PM

There is seriously 27 pages worth of discussion since yesterday on this pickup?

He's a decent pickup for a team that needs some RB help....with not many options because no one is going to trade with the 2 time Super Bowl champions without asking too much in return.

And everyone pining for Jet McKinnon needs to realize that the team evidently thinks he doesn't have it anymore or they would have resigned him earlier.

That didnt look great, but also it was one of the best defenses in the league and his qb was a nobody that will probably never take an nfl snap again.

I think he will be good for us down the stretch.

If he can get 3.5ypc and keep Pat from getting smoked in pass pro, he's good.

That's the standard for a guy like MEH, should be the goal for any 3rd string back

gordonelloyd 09-17-2024 06:07 PM

Our best hope is that Steele gets the job done.
Hunt is Insurance in case that doesn’t work. But I think he’s the best Insurance available.

I guess we do have an infatuation to CEH. He seems like he will be about as good as he is, which is a role.

Yeah, we're not looking for a RB1 replacement, just someone to absorb some rushing snaps, catch the ball out of the backfield, and pass protect. Hunt can probably do that.

It is a bit frustrating we brought in JK Dobbins and then just decided CEH was better. Dobbins has 266 yards, 9.9 ypc so far through 2 games and is, you know, leading the league in rushing yards. The next worst thing is he's on the Chargers.

Scuttlebutt seems to be he wanted a chance to run the ball more than he would here. I think they would have needed to overpay to get him.

WTF is this?

We had an RB1. The Chargers didn't. The dude is comingoff an ACL tear. No one thought he'd hit the ground running, and no one would've thought tie goes to the Chiefs in this situation in a battle with the Chargers and others.

So, so sorry you're "frustrated." Boo hoo.

In58men 09-17-2024 07:39 PM

You know damn well Clark had to get the approval from his girls first. They’re around players all the time.

UChieffyBugger 09-17-2024 07:42 PM

For those who are concerned about Hunt's age.

Alvin Kamara= 29 years old

Aaron Jones= 29 years old

Derrick Henry= 30 years old

Ezekiel Elliot= 29 years old

Joe Mixon= 28 years old

Christian Mccaffrey= 28 years old

Gus Edwards= 29 years old

James Conner= 29 years old

Raheem Mostert= 32 years old

Jamaal Williams= 29 years old

Austin Ekeler= 29 years old

All are playing in the league right now whether it's as the main back or in a committee. Kamara and Jones have been good this year and age 31 Motsert got 18 TD's. So let's just give Kareem a chance before we judge what he can bring to the team.

BossChief 09-17-2024 07:50 PM

I still can’t believe they signed him.

How cool.

I bet Tyreek is going to be begging to get traded back to KC by the deadline after Miami falls deeper in their hole. Even though he knows that ship has sailed.

crayzkirk 09-17-2024 07:51 PM

If teams play the light box like the Bengals did, Hunt can punish them. It's unfortunate that the Chiefs have to play this way, losing your WR1 and RB1 tends to limit your options.

Marcus Allen was 33 when we signed him and he played for 5 yrs. He did have low miles on the tires but that's pretty old for a rb.. Hunt might have some game in him too..

We sign another WR were right back on the tracks to threepeat. Not that we need to rush to sign anyway. Hopefully we can find a decent deal and Hunt will be good enough. I hope he can get a ring

Dobbins making 1.6M for one year. CEH 1.7M for one year. Sometimes you make a mistake. Happens. So far it sure looks like we could have used him. Sometimes the Chiefs like to overly rely on guys they already know. Familiarity bias probably.

Either way, the more I think about Hunt I like it more. He's going to be more motivated here than anywhere else to show the world what could have been. He's still gotta be better than CEH so either way it's an upgrade.

Dobbins is not the only guy to visit KC and not sign. It's happened multiple times since Veach took over. Breeland, Dennard, Darby to name a few. Dobbins went to a team who had his old OC and his friend Gus Edwards in the RB room. Plus a HC he knew wants to run the ball. It was an easy choice in the end when you add in he wasn't gonna be a starter here aswell.

I absolutely loved him coming out but was sure he was done after yet another serious injury. I figured he was just another victim to injury after coming out immensely talented and never really getting to display it.

Perhaps not.

dirk digler 09-18-2024 07:10 AM

I know this won't make me popular but we haven't had a true #1 RB since Hunt left. All we had is a bunch of average RB's and that includes Pacheco. He was #17th in rushing last year, with 935 yds in 14 games. meh..I like him but isn't what Kareem was. Hunt had 1327 yds his rookie season and was on his way to that number again or higher before he left. He had 827 yds in 11 games for us.

The only question I have is the lack of a good RB the talent we have or is it because our OL isn't a great run blocking unit? I will be interested to see how Hunt runs behind this OL and that should tell us quite a bit.

Let's say he was 17th in rushing over the entire season. That would imply that he was right in the middle of NFL RBs and very average. Hate to break it to you, but that is an average #1 RB.

Now let's consider that he only played 14 games. If we annualize that to 17 games, it's 1135yds.

Compared with other running backs who played 17 games, that's 32yds behind Derrick Henry, 13yds ahead of James Cook, 141yds ahead of Breece Hall, and 159yds ahead of Bijan Robinson.

I'm not saying he's better than those guys, but he's in the same conversation and bracket as them. And those are clear #1 RBs.

O.city 09-18-2024 07:21 AM

I get what you are saying and fair point. I think my view point is I am comparing him to the other very good\great RB's we have had in recent history in KC and I am a little under whelmed by him.

From what Reid said shortly ago he may not be back this year but hopefully he will get healthy and return.

Well if Mahomes believe he's a better man, then that's all we need to know.

Kareem is my early favorite for Walter Payton Man of the Year. Go ahead and write it down.

So he maybe done for the season?

Don't quote me on this but generally if you have surgery for that it's because the break is bad enough it needs plates and screws or the ankle is unstable which would be a ligament injury as well...that's uh not good.

The news sucks but RBs don't last long before they have a serious injury. We saw that with Priest and Jamaal. And Pacheco is an aggressive runner.

And that's one reason to not burn your bridges.

"Well, just calling around to make sure that things were OK," Reid said. "Pat [Patrick Mahomes] stayed good friends with him, he was at Pat's wedding, and those two came out in the same class and developed a friendship here, and then their general manager spoke highliy of him, coaches and so on, so we felt good about it."

Asked if Reid personally needed to have a conversation with Hunt to feel comfortable bringing him back, Reid noted that he spoke with Hunt at Mahomes's wedding and again before and after Hunt arrived in Kansas City this week. Then, the head coach was asked if he felt like he specifically needed to discuss Hunt's past before bringing him back to KC.

"Just make sure that JimNasium keep your nose clean, right?" Reid said. "That's the important part, and go play football. I think people deserve a second chance if they've done something to work on the first part of it."

Horrible?? wtf.. he had 9 TDs last year while splitting carries and had an additional 2 TDS in the playoffs. Pacheco career high in TDs in 7. If Kareem Hunt is terrible then he must be Barry Sanders if he’s somewhat decent

pugsnotdrugs19 09-18-2024 11:45 AM

Ehh, Mahomes talked more like Pacheco would definitely be back this year so I'm not too worried there.

But if Hunt and co. want to make us forget it for awhile, sign me up.

Yep. He had really worked hard all offseason improving his receiving skills.

Exactly. Dude scores TD's.

With our red zone woes. He is the perfect goal line back for us. Who cares if he lost his speed. If he can scores TDs inside the 5. Sign me up.

redfan 09-18-2024 12:13 PM

RBBC? I think I hear Barry Word's music!

New World Order 09-18-2024 12:15 PM

I would not get in Kareem Hunt’s way!

pugsnotdrugs19 09-18-2024 12:26 PM

It's unhealthy how bad I wanna see Kareem come back and have one magical season en route to LIX and his ring. This is the stuff that makes sports incredible.

Now, to opposing fans its anything but. However, I get chills thinking about what if he can take advantage of this environment and score about 10 TDs with over 1000 all purpose yards.

And convert short yardage in general. It’s been a problem ever since Kareem got fired in 2018 and Mahomes suffered the kneecap dislocation on a QB sneak in 2019. Sure feels like KC has the worst offense in the league for short yardage situations. Would be nice if Kareem can help this problem.
