The fact that Mahomes isn't immediately ruled out of practice says a lot.

This is gonna be pain tolerance.

I am more worried it would be like the injury versus the jags in 2019. That seemed even more minor than this week. A few weeks into that injury he was struggling. But I trust the med staff if they truly think mahomes can go. I still think the Pittsburgh quick turnaround will be way harder than we want to admit

It’s ridiculous… the NFL should have played these two Saturday games on Thursday to give almost a week of recovery time before the Christmas Day games.

The 2019 one was against the Colts. And tbh I think that one was worse than this latest one too tbh. The good thing is Pat fully recovered in 2019 and we won the superbowl. The 2022 one was still bothering Pat in the offseason all the way into camp cause it was a severe one. A mild one usually takes a week or two to fully recover from from what I gather.

Well, he recovered because he popped his knee which gave his ankles a few weeks to rest. He looked really rough against Indy and Houston in the 4th where you can tell his ankle really bothered him. But no matter… at the very least if we can clinch quickly we can get him the rest that he needs. I’d rather do it on the front end, but we will end up fine this way too.

Chris jones nailed it when he said the nfl needs a second bye week. And this and European travel games are exactly the kinds of ways to use it.

To make it the most fair they should find a way to have the bye weeks happen in like a three week span starting in week 8. Weeks 8, 9 & 10. That way no team is at a big disadvantage late in the season because they've played 8 to 10 games in a row and they're going against a team that's coming off a bye or have only played a couple games in a row after the bye.

Just shut the ****ing league down on bye weeks, and let every team rest at the same time.

If we can just convince the NFL that a 6% reduction in annual revenue is a good thing then this should be possible.

The good thing is they are playing their hated rivals Baltimore on the road. That's gonna be a very physical game indeed. The last time they played the Ravens they lost their next game vs the Browns.

I get that. My concern is more with rehabbing a hurt ankle traveling on the road for a 4 day turnaround. It’s tough enough for bodies to recover, let alone injured parts.

They will get plenty of time to recover after they lock up the #1 seed against the Steelers.

Not gonna lie, I kind of wanted to see the board’s reaction if Wentz had gone out and thrown for 4 touchdowns and connected with Worthy deep a couple times.

Would’ve been some entertaining discourse.

I think that's how I would've handled it. Dress Patrick, but start Wentz. If we get down 14+ or the offense is completely stagnant bring in Pat. That shit is his bread and butter anyhow.

An idea I heard one time is if the NFL goes to an 18 game schedule is a bye week for the whole team and a bye week for players of their choosing.. For example The team gets a a week 6 bye.. But we rest Patrick, Kelce and others on week 13 against the shitty Raiders… Everyone has to sit out a 2nd game on the 53 of the teams choosing… Make for some interesting strategy…

BigRedChief 12-17-2024 01:55 PM

I’d rather he sit this one out. I think Wentz can beat the Texans at home. Let Mahomes start at Pitt. Win that game and get 2.5 weeks of ankle rest.

But, he won a SB on one leg. He’s proved he can bring it home. Coaches have earned trust from our fans. They know he’s the moneymaker. They won’t gamble on his health before the playoffs even begin.

If you're going to sit him, sitting him for a home game against the weakest of the next 3 opponents would be the time to do it.

Perhaps, but I saw somewhere we gave up most pressures since like 2020 on Sunday. Seemed like Mahomes had more time and didn’t get sacked but took a lot of hits. Maybe another week with that duo improved, hell maybe that is what they stick with

That was the idiotic approach they took to play calling the second half as much as anything. There was no rhyme or reason for why they just started dropping straight back rep after rep.

All things equal I think Thuney was the best we've seen at LT, esp when you consider opponent.

Garrett would have seriously decimated Wanya or Kingsley. It woulda been a disaster from start to finish.

Agree I was fuming watching that up 3 scores and then up 2. Pass x6 3 and outs then going for it on 4th and again a pass. Was legit pissed off for awhile after that game first time in a long time. Still don’t know wtf they were thinking. I know Andy hates running but that was just abysmal. I would like to think even Andy would know when your QB is taking that much heat and having that big of lead he’d give up on it. Then the hurt ankle, damn so frustrating

I don't think that is ever going to happen.

Just like I'd like to return to a 14-game season to reduce wear and tear on the players isn't going to happen either.

Hopefully this forces their hand to play call with a little more authority and precision. 3 step drops. Screen game. Run.The.Ball. Max protection shots deep. Get the ball out of Patrick's hands quick and into your playmakers.

Back? We've never seen him yet outside of one play in the preseason. It will be interesting indeed to see how he changes the offense. They desperately need a better weapon at the #2 WR position.
