For the record, I would not call it a hostile environment either---just pointing out that there was a place less hostile.

I would hope Kansas would be most hostile than Arkansas State if Mizzou came to town... but yeah, in general, they haven't really given anyone a reason to give a shit in the past several years.

Of course KU would have to want to play MU for that to happen.

The offense sucked shit again. OL must play better. WRs must play better. RBs must play better (And if Chase Abbington isn't better, right now, than Hunt and Witter, he's just another product of the St. Louis hype machine). And the QB spot must perform more consistently.

Really, Mauk's biggest issue today was the turnover issue. Both were awful and set up easy fields for points.

While Mauk didn't really help anyone with his throws tonight, a couple of the Receivers don't seem to have the ability to make themselves a possession receiver. A couple of them look scared to get hit or even try to catch the ball.

As for Witter.....he just doesn't look like he's all that special. For all the hype he received he looks like he has trouble finding the seam.

BTW...what is up with Abbington? I thought he was supposed to be a decent RB?

It might be. At some point, you wonder if maybe they just don't need to try some different guys in game action and see what happens.

Abbington has practiced like shit, apparently (heard Ford was ripping him all week for not being on the two deep yet).

I've heard good stuff about Doherty but asked about him being a redshirt burn this year and was told he's not there from a strength standpoint and still needs some football-specific conditioning (emphasizing fast-twitch movements).

Best hope for help - other than Hansbrough getting healthy - might end up being Trevon Walters' return.

He's not practicing well and isn't outplaying Witter or Hunt in practice right now. It's possible he's a product of the St. Louis hype machine.

I don't know that Witter ever received a lot of hype, but he looked last year like a typical Mizzou system back, who would be a very solid producer. He looks slower and less sure of himself in action this year.

Is Steward ever going to get healthy enough to start?

Mizzou falls to #22 in the AP Poll from #21 last week. Utah, Arizona and BYU jumped them. That Arrowhead game against the Cougars looking tougher every week.

Wow... Good news for them.

I hope it's a big national TV game.

Take this with a big grain of salt(source is right 50% of the time):

Word is there will be another redshirt burned on Saturday:

Marquise Doherty

They need to do something. Lack of run game is going to kill them once they enter SEC play.

Pitt Gorilla 09-15-2015 01:06 PM

Trailing by 7 points in the third quarter, Mizzou sent out the following D-line:

True freshmen Nate Howard, Terry Beckner Jr. and Josh Moore. Redshirt freshman Walter Brady provided the experience for the group.

It's hard to say. That hip injury was so mysterious and troublesome. I'm hoping so. His skillset was valuable, before he got hurt.

More creativity (two-back sets? attached H-back or TE? more jet sweeps? More QB runs) would help.

Better blocking would help, too. Still working out some things on the OL. I'm of the opinion you just move McGovern back inside, where he kicks ass, and open things up on the right side with him and Boehm.

If he's ready - burn it.

There's always another tailback. Mizzou can point to a long line of kids that have excelled here and they can just recruit another kid to fill in 4 years from now when Doherty doesn't have that extra year of eligibility.

If he's not ready to play, might as well save it - reports are that the guy's still pretty slight for D1. But if he can withstand the pounding, burn the shirt and get some reinforcements in here.

Steward's not going to recover and the guys around him just aren't that good.
