Did anyone get the distinct impression that when Pete slapped Rich on the shoulder as he left the house following the 'we should be friends' scene, he did so deliberately to demonstrate his superior stature to Rick. It was almost like a pedo putting his arm around a pre-teen boy.

That's exactly how I read it. Rick was not pleased with it either. Rick is dreaming of ways to kill Petey boy. Then he will have what is his now.
