1984 here. not required in my hs, so i never read it. I like the idea of thought police, and hopefully the mods here don't install telescreens in each thread! On my list next is Neuromancer.

I'm reading Moneyball. And I wish the Royals had that organizational philosophy.

Started reading "Do travel writers go to hell?" by Thomas Kohnstamn. The author quits his well paying wall street job for a dream job travel writing for lonely planet. The problem is they don't pay him nearly enough to travel to brazil and write reviews for all the places he's supposed to visit so he ends up writing reviews for places he doesn't visit and is bribed hookers and drugs in return for 4 star reviews of hotels and dining places. The author claims this is the dark side of the guidebook industry and pretty common. So far it's a great read.

I'm now reading "The Art of Racing in the Rain" By Garth Stein. Another fun read.. |
ROMO is very interesting so far. He was singularly focused on football from an early age...and I mean laser-beam focus. Drinking, women, having fun...he wasn't interested.

I plan on starting Rushdie's 'Midnight's Children' tonight. I'm working through the Booker Award winners I have not read and the 'Best of the Bookers' seemed a good start.

I just read a collection of plays by Oscar Wilde. An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Lady Windemere's Fan. They're good reads. It also included a play of his called Salome, which I didn't care for as much.

I'm reading House of Good Hope based on Reaper's advice. So far, so good. Though, I haven't been able to actually sit down and read a good chunk at a time. It's been piecemeal which has kinda put a damper on it so far.
