Rigor Mortis

Tried one last weekend. Very, very smooth and nice.

My new "finish" beer at the Beer Haus (Monksbeerhouseofalerepute.)

I'm not in the KC metro, either, and it's crazy because one would think that the farther he's removed from the "source" the less the popularity (for lack of a better word).

But nope. Gone. For some reason I envisioned myself as being in on some secret, and I was wrong.

Do what makes you happy. But I went to all-grain with $75 in parts(10 gal Cooler). You don't need a roaster or a grinder. And I can start the strike water and be cleaned up in 5 hours.

Do you still save the money in grains when you buy in batches all roasted and you have the supply store grind them? I can brew two batches in under 4 hours (usually, depending) and only have a half dozen # to dispose of. I live in a developed neighborhood with nowhere to get rid of them except the trashcan.

I know, I know....Aphrodite was great too. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I like anything from Montreal.

You didn't get any, huh? Purchased three bottles, after many a phone call to locate the goods. Just finished bottle 2.

Nope, but it's coming back next year.

Just opened a bottle of their Imperial Stout though...

I'm not all that sure about the cost difference. All I know is that my extract beers were uniformly terrible, and my all-grain beers are better and better with each batch.

I give my spent grains to the farmer who supplies me with milk so that his cows can eat them.

Have you had their Peche Mortel? That beer is world-class.

So, could we spoiler tag the OP? It annoys me.

Please. I clicked into this thread from my phone yesterday(non smartphone) and it took me half an hour to scroll past it.

I'll add it to the list; I suspect Monk's either has it...or will get it if I ask.

Imperial stouts are my new fav, as long as they don't overwhelm with sweet.

KC native 04-01-2011 08:05 PM

picked up some Allagash White. Don't have the chance to get to it tonight but will get into it tomorrow.

Also grabbed Ommegang's Three Philosophers which is interesting but good.
