After watching this, it really pisses me of how much of a letdown the prequels were. ROTS and the end of AOTC were the only parts that are worthy.

I will let my emotional high wear off and re-rank them, but here it is at this moment.

1. Empire/Rogue One
3. Return of the Jedi
4 A New Hope
5. Revenge of the Sith/The Force Awakens
7. Clone Wars
8. The Phantom Abortion

We'll see how I'm feeling in a year, but when I left the theater I had Rogue One as third behind ANH and Empire. Now I'm thinking it might eventually be in second, but I'll give myself until the release of 8 to decide the final rankings.

Where I am now:

Empire
ANH/Rogue One
ROTJ
TFA
ROTS
TPM
AOTC

And the beach battle was awesome as well.

That movie was so satisfying, which is strange because everyone died.

Seeing all of the TIE's come barrelling out of the space station was awesome.

There's a shitload of HD clips on YouTube now.

I think the movie wouldn't have resonated as well had Galen and Jyn (and the others) survived. I think the fact that it ended up being a massacre just....fit. Everyone died, but the goal was achieved.

Right. I was really worried about Disney dictating some kind of escape and lived happily ona remote planet somewhere. The way it ended was the way it HAD to be.

Yeah, the ending was pretty much perfect. I kept wondering, how the hell are they going to get out of this shit? Then I realized they weren't.

It kind of reminded me of Glory.

I had it second only to Empire. I'll be buying the Blue Ray when it comes out, I'll watch it again. I do need to see it again to really fortify my opinion of it, and really soak it in. As I recall it now, there were some problems with it, but I need to watch it again to refresh my memory and see if those problems are real to me or not. But damn, I remember walking out of the theater on cloud 9 loving it. Looking forward to seeing it again.

It's very hard to rank Rogue One ahead of A New Hope, because so much of it's mythos is built on what A New Hope put out there.

I think I would put it ahead of Jedi, though. Jedi pulled on a lot of already established story but didn't execute it as well as Rogue One did.

Plus Vader is a huge pussy cuck in Jedi, other than the opening scene when he makes Moff Jerjerrod wet his pants.

While I recognize that Empire is the best overall movie, I'll always prefer the original Star Wars (A New Hope, whatever - I'm old, to me it will always just be Star Wars). I remember how the movies made me feel the first time I saw them. Star Wars blew me away - I saw it more times in the theater than I can remember. I left the theater thrilled. With Empire, I left the theater thinking how the **** can Darth Vader be Luke's father? Is he lying? That sucks.

So the original Star Wars was my favorite of the originals, and Return had the best parts - the interaction between Luke, Vader and the Emperor. It also featured the best moment in all the movies - when Vader saved Luke and chucked the Emperor down the shaft. The cheer from the audience of the packed Kennedy Theater during that scene is still the loudest I've ever heard for any scene in any movie. That being said, the movie as a whole was dragged down by the whole killer teddy bear bit, but still, the other stuff pulled it over the top.

As far as Rogue One goes, it's the only movie since the originals that managed to captured the feel of the original. Watching it brought back the 11-year-old kid who sat in wonder watching the original back in 1977.

So in order, here are my favorites:

Star Wars
Rogue One
Return of the Jedi
Empire Strikes Back
The Force Awakens

and **** the other three.
