People like you suggested I was an idiot for thinking and posting that Peters would probably be traded, and yet, here he is packing his bag today. I don't come into fandom expecting all players to be choir boys. In early discussions on Hill, I posted that I had concerns about character, but would see what happened. when my son started talking about him, I made the point that my son can cheer Hill's actions on the field, but he isn't a role model. |

Can the Rams pick up his 5th year option, or is it only the original team?
|
For as "dumb" of a move as many make this out to be...it sounds like the Chiefs were having trouble drumming up a trade partner in this.
According to IanRap., the 49ers and Browns were the only other teams who were mildly interested in him. The Rams were apparently the only ones will to go in on a trade at the end. ...I am good with this move. Good Luck Rams. |
If we didn't get a 1st.....then Veach can **** off.

It simply comes down to this: If Peters was willing to sign an extension, this is a mistake. If he was unwilling to sign an extension - THIS YEAR - then this had to be done.
Berry, Smith and Houston contracts crippled this organization, because they weren't done on time. Once you're in the last year of a deal and the tag has to be used - you're already gonna pay too much. You had to extend Peters this year to avoid going into his year 5 option trying to work out a deal. It would have made him the highest paid CB in the league, and we already had the highest paid S and OLB. I loved Peters since day one. I still think he's a badass, but this is a good business move if his desire for a trade is in any way legitimate, or if the Chiefs couldn't get him to sign an extension. It's a bitter pill to swallow, though. |
