I had the brass frame in the vice on my Milling machine. Had the spring in place & was just trying to catch a thread with the screw that holds it all together.
PING! Sucker flew across the shop right into a big pile of scrap metal. Never to be found.

Ouch. At least I found mine. I don't even want to think about how pissed I would have been if I hadn't.

Dear frazod, shot 4/6 in the middle/outter middle from 25 yards with the springfield xd 40 today. I am in love.

Nice. It's getting harder and harder pass up getting one.

No kidding. I am wanting try the smith and wesson mp40 and the Glock 22 before I decide which one. The XD shoots so good, going to be a tough decision.

I think I'm going to start squirreling away a little cash every month in a gun fund for the XD, and hope that when I have enough Bud's will still have that $465 deal. I'll stick with the 9mm, though. I've already got my 40 cal home defender in the HK.

Ran across this while researching the XD....apparently this guy had a problem with his striker retaining pin on 3 different XD's. Is this guy doing something wrong or just bad luck? Really the only bad review I found:

I just found a slightly-used Grip Pod (the $150, steel-reinforced version) for $45 at a local shop. I'm pretty pumped to pick it up and put it on tonight. The guy said it looks like new.

I picked it up after work and slapped it on:

For those of you leaving drool-trails about Springfields XD pistols - here's a fairly recent article about some of their recent developments. This 'level of refinement' all came about after I got my .45 model a few years ago. I like that .45acp, but it is a might thickish in the grip. If you've got a small to medium hand, the .45 XD might not be your best bet.

Once again, Bud's drops prices and brings me yet again to the brink of temptation.... :banghead:

$541 for an XDM 9mm compact.

I came thisclose to ordering that XDM just now - unfortunately, Bud's has a week backlog time for processing orders right now, and I wanted it by Friday so I could take it home to Kirksville this weekend. If I could have got it shipped quickly, it would be a done deal, but since there's no hurry now, I'll probably wait until next month and justify it as a birthday present to myself.

I have the fullsize XDM 9mm. Love it.

Was planning to try to pick up an XD in .40 cal, but just traded an old Colt .357 Trooper Mk III 8" straight across for a Sig 250 Compact with both .40 and .357 modules.
