But they were definitely trying to trade up to get him. |
Well I doubt they would trade up for a guard

The difficulty with contracts for left tackles right now is there are three upper echelon ones that are scheduled to hit FA this year in Clady, Albert and Long.
None of their agents are gonna want to be the one that agrees to the first deal and Cladys agent already turned down a 5yr 50 million dollar deal a couple months back. Hopefully, the Chiefs come to an acceptable agreement with Albert, but I don't think this is gonna be as easy as some might think. |
Lets say Albert agrees to a 6yr 58 million dollar contract (that's the amount where I think he will sign) and a couple weeks later, Clady signs for 5yrs 60 million.
Alberts agent isn't gonna have an easy time signing future clients because he got Albert "underpaid". |
That's an interesting angle. :hmmm:

Duane Brown is the best left tackle in the NFL. All-Pro, Pro Bowler, 2nd team All-Pro in 2011. Best, bar none. In August 2012, Brown signed a 6 year, $53.4 million dollar deal. There's no ****ing way, especially with a flat cap, that Clady or Albert can expect to receive a bigger contract offer. None, zip, zero. Won't happen. |

Brown signed his contract less than 6 months ago. Revis signed his contract over 2 years ago. |
