I may not agree with Clay-Darth-Pioli-PFF-than but he contributes. |

It's a horrible, horrible way to predicate an offense. But, but..."who was available"? Answer: Pick someone. Pick anyone but Cassel because the team had no faith in him, and roll with that guy for a season. Same ****ing results offensively. |

All indications are that this is who Alex Smith is. There's no reason - other than blind faith/hope - to believe Alex Smith can break career trends when asked to throw this often, in this style of offense. |

With that said, do you really think that the 49ers OL and WRs were anywhere near as talented as the Pats other than in 2011 and 2012 for the duration of Alex's career? Edit: you're correct about the last 2 seasons being an outlier. Where we might disagree is the reason why. |

I mean if we lose out and it's because AS is throwing int's or in some other way is clearly the only problem. All I started out saying was the offense can improve for sure, Smith first. But the entire offense needs improve a ton. I also maintain that Avery's drop was big, I think plays like that are game changers. Even if they only score a FG it still a score and not a 3 and out. |
