We had to go get my GF's kids at her ex husbands on 29th & Joplin St about an hour after.

Had to park at 20th Pearl and walk in. It was the craziest shit I have ever seen. I will never forget.

One of the hold-ups right now is the insurance companies in that they don't have enough adjusters(sp?) here to make assessments before clean up can begin.

I talked to a tree service guy from Indiana that said he drove 14 hours straight to get there.

He was hanging out in a gas station looking for something to do.

Meanwhile local people were in the areas cutting up trees with chainsaws.

It's just to disorganized from what I can see.

I agree. That is why I tell anyone to volunteer to check at mssu student rec center. I don't know how organized it is, but it's got to be better then just going out and getting in the way. Which is what the radio is telling people to do.

I can imagine. I heard they were pretty much just totaling everything but there are tons of places to get too.

A coworker thought his house was salvageable but the water damage to the interior structure totaled it.

The water damage issue never even occurred to me with the shit ripped apart damage being so apparent.

The entire day of rain on Monday didn't help.

Yes it was. I had to park at 21st and jackson, luck would have it I got there before the traffic really hit. I probably walked 10 miles that day. The cell phones being down was probably the most demoralizing thing ever.

It is a true story, I know the person and family involved unfortunately.

I believe you I just hope they get it straightened out and not make people wait any longer than they have to.

It's a bad deal but I kind of understand why they want to get it right. Positive ID is huge.

I registered yesterday a little after Noon and was turned away promptly afterwards. I don't think they couldn't have sent more than 6 groups of an unknown number of people at any time to that point, which I think is due to the insurance problem and the other hazards. Not to mention I think the authorities are too afraid of a non-professional getting a survivor killed because they weren't trained.

I thought about it for awhile and thats why I wound up just giving a cash donation. I know it may sound like the lazy way out, but I figured the money could be used for whatever is needed whereas the use of a supply donation would be limited. The costs associated with this mess both directly and indirectly have to be astronomical, and I figured money might be the most helpful. I just hope the organization I donated through uses the money efficiently. That was my only concern with giving cash.

I have had 1,000 conversations with friends and coworkers about the lack of ability to communicate at the time.

People didn't have cell phones before in times like this but when you have one and it's useless it pisses you the **** off.

My GF's daughter text her "we are trying to get out of the house" and then we didn't gt another message or communicate again until we got to the house.

Scary shit.

Not I. I've been mildly inconvenienced and that's about it compared to what some people have endured. Just like you I want to help.

Not sure I'd call missing relatives, even if temporarily, a mild inconvenience, man.
