Why? The episode's aired. If you don't want to know what happened in TWD, you'd think it would be easy enough not to enter the show's thread where people would obviously be discussing this week's episode.

Hey dumb****, a spoiler is information about what is going to happen on a show. Once the episode has aired, it's not a spoiler.

If you haven't watched the current episode, don't go into a thread where people are talking about a show and bitch about them talking about the show.

Now, just to be clear, the following things happened in last night's episode: the governor talked his new group into going to the prison and taking it from Rick's group, the governor captured Herschell and Michonne, Rick tried to talk the governor into living peacefully with everyone in the prison, the governor beheaded Herschell, a gun battle ensued, the governor and Rick got into a fistfight, the governor won and was strangling Rick when Michonne stabbed him from behind, and Lilly (the governor's new girlfriend) finished him off with a bullet to the head.

Notice the lack of spoiler tags in my post. That's because none of this information is a spoiler. The episode has already aired.

notorious 12-02-2013 08:30 AM

Do we need to start putting spoiler tags on our game-day thread posts?

My expectations might have been tool high after seeing all the glowing praise on here and Facebook.

This is standard operating procedure for shows 'round here. Once it's aired, it's open season. If you don't want to read spoilers from aired shows, don't show your face here until you've seen the episode. This isn't rocket science.

Been reading various reviews of the show, and a thought hit me:

It would have been kind of cool if they would have let the Governor actually seem to be redeemed (without doing all the psychotic nasty shit that he did in the last episode to seize power of his new camp). So, he seems like he's redeemed. We feel like maybe he's redeemed. He still launches the plan to take the prison, which is still a sound plan even for a redeemed man. After all, Rick and his group did kind of screw him and Woodbury, so I think he could be "redeemed" and still want to find a new home for his new family.

Everything goes down exactly the same up to Rick's speech at the gates. Rick makes the speech. The governor seems to be considering it. The audience is wondering, "Is there redemption? Will the governor and Rick coexist?" Then Michonne (somehow having gotten free) walks up behind the Governor and beheads him. Battle then ensues.

That moves things more into the grey area that I prefer with the morality of my shows.

frankotank 12-02-2013 09:31 AM

man I get kinda messed up because I read the two compendiums months ago...so I get the book and the comic confused at times. I went back and looked at the death of Penny...and she clearly had her teeth when Michone ran the sword thru her mouth....so I'm betting the gov didn't open mouth kiss her after all. but he sure did in the comic.

I don't remember how the comic resolved the gov....but man....I SO SO SO was hoping he'd have been left to die and come back as a walker!!!

loved the chick showing up at the end as a walker....the one who had her chopped up zombie hubby in a potato sack...LMAO

frankotank 12-02-2013 09:33 AM

also....the watering down of the gov on the show....I found it rather disappointing. so how they gonna handle the next baddy??!!

You and I just can't seem to agree on much of anything, can we?

ROFL

I much, much prefer the characterization of the Gov in the show over the comic. In the comics, he's a caricature of pure evil, and he's rather flat. Morrissey - especially in these last few episodes - created a layered character with the depth, much more interesting than the comics.

That said, I am also at a loss for how they'll handle Negan. My original thought was they were going to combine Negan and the Gov, so the Gov post-Woodbury would find a new home and rule in much the manner Negan does... obviously that didn't happen.

frankotank 12-02-2013 10:36 AM

don't you think walker gov woulda been cool?

I thought the gov was gonna shoot the girls mom after he shot the dead girl. he would've in the comic. :D

My wife thinks that Carol is running the other group that took out the camp right after the gov and the goons left them unharmed.

It would be cool if the guy they found in town (who lost his crooked legged girlfriend) was a part of the group, and he has turned bad.

I don't think Carol has been gone long enough to control a group, let alone even find one. I mean, Rick is just now telling Daryl about his decision as the Governor is about to attack. It didn't take the Governor long to take control of a group, but I don't think Carol has the skills of persuasion that he has.

If you guys think the Governor was bad, wait until they unveil Negan. Holy shit he's a ruthless terror that makes the Governor look like a saint.

In the comics Negan is very violent man who beats the shit out of people with a baseball bat wrapped with barb wire.

I've hardly started on the comics but this type of shit would be scary for sure. I'd think the series would take it up a notch on the violence

Negan isn't violent. Lucille (the bat) is the violent one. Negan just wants to get along. :)

also, i started with the graphic novels. i got them all at Hastings. i believe that there are 19 or 18 volumes now. WILDLY graphic. MUCH more than the show. there are several parallels. and there are several heart-wrenching moments.

while i loved the gov in the series, what he is, and what he does, and what he becomes in the comic, well, let's just say that they toned (him) down in the tv show BY A TON!!!!!

The second part has merit, but your definition of what is and isn't a spoiler [and who is or isn't a dumb****] is dunderheaded.

A spoiler is something that reveals an important, usually surprising, plot element to those who haven't seen the show in question.

A spoiler about the end of The Sixth sense is still a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it's been out so long that people are no longer concerned about revealing it. By your standard, anything reveal from the afternoon of a movie's premiere forward is no longer a spoiler, because it'[s out there to be seen.

I have no problem with spoilers in an episodic television thread being OK once an episode has aired. Not so much the broad definition of what is and isn't spoiler.

Very possible...maybe Carol comes back in the 2nd half? Only way to justify it by having the child do it, how could Tyrese go after her

Yeah, I'm convinced to the point where I'm changing my mind on Judith's survival. I also think Tyrese and the children will meet Carol in the wilderness.

I need clarification.
I have compendiums 1 & 2 at home. these cover volumes 1-96. So The Walking Dead Volume 17 picks up at 97. I think that Volume 19 is the last one available at this point and it covers thru volume 114.

I don't understand what the BOOKS are. like this one....

I'll try to explain (hopefully I'm right).

An individual comic that you buy at the store is called an issue, e.g. "Walking Dead #1" is the first issue of the entire series. These are what we traditionally call "comic books."

They then collect issues into "books" or "volumes" of several issues (eight or so, I think). The book you linked above is one of those.

They then collect the books into compendiums. So compendium one has books 1-8 in it, which covers issues 1-48.

That being said, there are several spinoffs that are outside the numeration of the traditional "The Walking Dead" series, though I'm not sure that any of them are actually graphic novels. The Rise of the Governor is one of these, and it's a traditional prose novel (no pictures).

Oh to make matters even more confusing, they have what is called an "Omnibus" that is basically a volume/book set up to be more like a collector's edition. Hardbound reproduction of the original comics with their covers and such in a slipcase.

Finally watched this on the DVR last night

(btw I stay away from this thread until the show has been watched by me~)

A couple things.

One - What kind of little kid just ****ing slops around in the mud like a pig, for long periods of time. And, With the mom just seeing a walker float by, doesn't she say to herself 'hey my kids right by the edge there'

Two - GOD DAMN Hershels neck got chopped!

and lastly, Michonne saves Ricks ass and just lets him walk up into the firefight/zombie massacre in the prison without trying to stop him, and then goes.. somewhere?

DAMN YOU MIDSEASON BREAK!

seaofred 12-04-2013 01:01 PM

I two think it was either both little girls or the oldest little girl that killed the sick people and Carol caught them. I think she/they were practicing killing "zombie" by stabbinb them in the temple.

bowener 12-04-2013 02:31 PM

I know I am late, but I thought it was obvious the older girl was feeding rats to zombies. She was the one that talked to Nick (the zombie wearing the mechanics jumpsuit), and treating him as a living human or possibly a pet, and thus feeding him fits with that. From there it is kind of a strange jump, but I assume they will make her the one that is mutilating the animals around the prison. I do not know if she killed the adults. Either way they needed to be killed and burned.

hometeam 12-04-2013 02:47 PM

I'm fairly certain they explained all of that stuff.

Carol killed the people, the little girls fed the zombies.
